2001 Ya Monogatari (OAV) Decent Decent show about space travel... animation is fairly old, but the storyline is pretty good. Not something I would watch with limited time, but not a total waste either.
3x3 Eyes (OAV) Good Nice action, can get annoying at times, but plenty of fighting...
3x3 Eyes Seima Densetsu (OAV) Good More of the same, but better since the main characters isn't a total Newb Anymore...
5 Centimeters Per Second (movie) Excellent Great movie, beautiful animation, storyline and music. Even though the storyline was not really developed, the beauty is in the little that we do see that hints at a profound deepness. However, like the rest of his stories, the ending isn't completely fulfilling. Regardless, it was still a great movie to watch.
(The) Adventures of Mini-Goddess (TV) Good Cute little spin-off to OMG!, not much else though.
After War Gundam X (TV) Very good Good Gundam series to watch, main character didn't impress me very much, but action was fast paced and entertaining...
Agent Aika (OAV) Decent Panty shots... and a pointless story
Ah! My Goddess (TV) Very good Very mellow and happy happy, need to be in the mood to watch..
Ah! My Goddess: The Movie Good Wasn't anything that special, watch if you're a fan of the series
Ai Yori Aoshi (TV) Very good Standard love story with a harem, but good music, and very nice relationships between the characters...
Ai Yori Aoshi ~Enishi~ (TV) Very good More focus on Tina, more of the same as above, but worth watching if you're a fan of the series
Air (TV) Good Annoyed me to no extent, not to mention there was no real idea about what the story was about... Only worth watching if you have the patience and ability to determine what is going on in animes better then I do... Not to mention the ending was kind of ghey...
Air (movie) So-so Different style then the TV, can't say I liked this more. If I had to choose one or the other, choose the TV series...
Air Gear (TV) Very good Made by the same mangaka that made Tenjou Tenge, so you know what to expect there. Great fight scenes, enormous battles, and plenty of ridiculous humor. Oh yeah, and fan service... lots and lots of fan service. Music fits in fairly well, animation is mediocre, at some parts may seem even subpar, but the story and characters are enough to make this anime worth watching.
Air In Summer (special) Good Special episodes concentrating on a specific arc of the TV show, might be a better watch then the actual show itself. Again, follows the same theme as Air TV show, so the ending will definetly either disappoint or bring tears...
Aishiteruze Baby (TV) Good Standard love story with a tiny kid thrown in... not really anything worth watching, but not particularly terrible..
Ajin (TV) Very good
Ajin (TV 2) Very good
Akane Maniax (OAV) Good Kimi ga nozomu eien gaiden... sigh... watch if you like the original series, otherwise nothing interesting here.
Akira (movie) Good Movie about weird people with powers. Manga is much better, watch only if you like the art style or armageddon type animes.
Angel Beats! (TV) Excellent
Angelic Layer (TV) Very good Cute, funny, and great action scenes. I found it enjoyable, even though it was mainly targeted for kids. Watch on your own accord, but it gives you a fuzzy feeling
anohana: The Flower We Saw That Day (TV) Excellent
(The) Anthem of the Heart (movie) Very good
Appleseed (movie) Excellent Great effects, great action, and decent storyline. Great anime to watch if you enjoy the art style, and a great anime to watch overall. The opening is one of the most memorable opening's I've ever seen in anime. And Masamune Shirow really knows how to immerse you in a hi-tech world (GITS anyone?). Very highly recommended.
Appleseed: Ex Machina (movie) Very good I didn't like this as much as the first one, probably because the animation was a bit different (the first one had more depth to the animation I felt like, this one was more 2D). But this was directed by John Woo, which includes some of the most bad-ass fight scenes you'll find anywhere. Storyline is classic Appleseed, one that you can really be immersed in and wouldn't mind living in). Highly recommended.
Aquatic Language (special) Decent
Argento Soma (TV) Good Reminiscent of Fafner, Escaflowne, etc... Giant robot attempting to defend the earth against supernatural beings... be prepared for a lot of death and action. Decent anime, but there are definetly better out there...
Aria - The Natural (TV) Very good
Ayumayu Theater (ONA) Good Cute little spin-off that doesn't do much for the story.
Azumanga Daioh (TV) Good Stay away from this unless you have no balls... even though the kids are funny, there's really not much to this anime worth noting.
Azumi (live-action movie) Very good Even though this movie seems low-budget and kiddish at times, there is still some nice fight scenes and comradeship throughout the story.
Azumi 2: Death or Love (live-action movie) Good Same as the first one, more fight scenes... even though the story isn't as well developed either.
Baccano! (TV) Masterpiece This is what I call an anime with flair. Though I'm not big on anime's modeled after other people's culture (fantasy ones are alright) this one made me speechless. The premise is fairly ridiculous, but it has the right mix of humour, action, and suspense that the story didn't really matter (though as fragmented as it was, it was still great). Oh, and the characters are beyond ridiculous, especially Issac and Miria... A must watch for everyone, this is an anime that will go down forever.
Bakuman. (TV) Very good
Bakuman. 2 (TV) Excellent
Bakuman. 3 (TV) Very good
Bamboo Blade (TV) Very good Even though I hoped for a bit more romance in this anime, it was still a great anime. Every character was unique and lovable, with plenty of depth dedicated to each of them. There isn't much of a backstory, but it doesn't really need be. And while there isn't much actual fighting, it was the journey to each tournament that was the focus of the story. The growth of each character was the main focus of the anime, and how they learn to rely and interact with each other. Recommended for everyone.
Banner of the Stars (TV) Excellent GREAT ANIME, one of my favorites. The 2 main characters have a great dynamic going that I never get tired of seeing. Story is great, the whole universe where the show takes place is something I can definetly get into.
Banner of the Stars II (TV) Excellent Same as the first, just a continuation of the story. More progression on the main characters, and probably a lot more emotion. Great fight scenes also.
Banner of the Stars III (OAV) Excellent Not as much going on as the other two, but wraps up the series sorta decently. Still waiting for a sequel.
Bartender (TV) Very good Great anime series centered around alcohol. Quite a bit different from your standard anime series since this tries to be educational while touching on many aspects of humanity. The animation was beautiful, music was great, and chracters, though not too memorable, played their parts well. I'd recommend this anime to anyone with an interest in alcohol.
Battle Royale (live-action movie) Good Definetly not as bloodly or crazy as the manga, but still something not to be watched unless you enjoy Japanese movies... high school kids murdering each other? Ugh...
Battle Royale II: Requiem (live-action movie) Decent Not as memorable as the first movie nor as well produced. Only watch if you're a big fan of teenagers killing each other.
BECK: Mongolian Chop Squad (TV) Very good
Berserk (TV 1997) Very good Decent anime, doesn't really end well, but based off one of the best mangas of all time. Watch if you're a fan of the manga.
Berserk: The Golden Age Arc I - The Egg of the King (movie) Very good
Berserk: The Golden Age Arc II - The Battle for Doldrey (movie) Very good
Berserk: The Golden Age Arc III - The Advent (movie) Good
Big Windup! (TV) Very good
Black Cat (TV) Good Manga was better, and the ending of this was quite a departure from the manga, but girls are hot, action is fast and furious, and you have to love Sven.
Black Lagoon (TV) Very good Started strong, but was fairly lackluster later on. Cowboy Bebop rip kind of... watch if you have nothign else.
Black Lagoon: The Second Barrage (TV) Very good More of the same, didn't add anything substantial to the series.
Blood+ (TV) Very good Decent anime made much better by the addition of Hagi. Without him, the anime would only be mediocre. Could be pretty frustrating, but gets a lot better near the end.
Blood: The Last Vampire (movie) Good Nowhere near the same as the TV show, might be better or worse depending on personal tastes. I liked the TV show much more.
Bokura ga Ita (TV) Very good Well, this anime was a doozy. This anime closely resembles Kare Kano, although better in a number of ways. Plenty of humour is interspersed, and very tastefully done. Your standard drama scenes are a bit over the top at times, but that's to be expected from an anime like this. Music soundtrack is great and fits well with the story, conveying all manners of emotions. A good anime to watch overall, but a great anime if you're into romance/drama. One last thing... half the time the characters were missing half their face... WEIRD...
Boogiepop and Others (live-action movie) Good Low budget movie, but the story and plot development was done with enough taste to make this an entertaining watch. The disjointed storytelling is fairly confusing at first, but manages to sort itself out really well near the end. Acting is mediocre, and there's not much else going on except a ton of dialog. All in all however, this movie was worth the 2 hours.
Boogiepop Phantom (TV) Decent This was one weird anime... I really recommend watching the movie to get an idea of what the story here even is. Also, the anime is a bit too dark for me, making it really hard to watch at times. The story was definetly unique... however, it could have been executed much better. I'd watch it if you really like a suspenseful anime that requires a lot of thinking about the plot.
Broken Blade (movie series) Good
Bunny Drop (TV) Very good
Burst Angel (TV) Good Something to watch when you're bored, nothing of real note here. Big boobs, and near naked girls...
Burst Angel: Infinity (OAV) Good Just a small OAV to add more to the story. Watch if you liked the TV show, otherwise don't bother.
Buso Renkin (TV) Excellent This anime is one of the few that gets everything done right. While nothing in this anime surprised me, or really made differentiated this from your run of the mill anime, I still felt this anime is one of the best I've seen in a while. The story, while not really groundbreaking, is interesting and engrossing enough. The characters, while not truly unique (except papillon...), will still make you support or condemn them. And the fight scenes, while not exactly the best I've seen, are enough to convey the feelings of the people in them. Basically, this anime is like a perfect home-cooked meal. Nothing exactly innovative or eye-catching, but the way everything fits together makes you warm and fuzzy inside.
Cardcaptor Sakura (TV) Very good Yet again for kids, but fairly enjoyable since it is Clamp. Long series, but Li Shaoran really adds a lot more character in here, and supporting characters all make up for the annoyance of the main girl.
Cardcaptor Sakura The Movie 2: The Sealed Card Very good More of the same of CCS
Cardcaptor Sakura: The Movie Very good More of the same... watch if you liked the TV show...
Carnival Phantasm (OAV) Very good
Castle in the Sky (movie) Excellent Studio Ghibli never fails to disappoint, and this was another stellar release by them. The animation was beautiful, story, superb. The characters were all memorable, each of them with plenty of depth and realism. Music was done masterfully, never too much or too little. All in all, a perfect anime if I've ever seen one. Only thing that bothered me was Pazu being more bad-ass than spiderman. He seems to hang onto the most random things ever...
(The) Cat Returns (movie) Very good Cute little story from Studio Ghibli that doesn't fail to impress. The story is weird, but fits the whole Ghibli feel just fine. Animation is impressive, and the characters as well. All in all, not the best that Ghibli has done, but still an enjoyable movie nonetheless.
Cat Shit One: The Animated Series (ONA) Very good A fairly well-done animation about cats (special forces) fighting. The manga was decent enough to make me watch the mini-anime, and it worked well enough. Especially since it's so short, you don't lose anything.
Ceres, Celestial Legend (TV) Good Old anime, can be real bloody, confusing, and infuriating, but ended nicely and will definetly be memorable.
Chobits (TV) Very good Not my cup of tea, but still a good anime. Don't really believe in human+robot love stories, but Chi is fairly cute, so she passes this time.
Chobits (OAV) Good Watch if you like the TV show, nothing new here.
Chrome Shelled Regios (TV) Good This anime series definitely had the ability to be much more, but it did a HORRIBLE job of explaining anything. The art was good, fight scenes were good, and the characters were sort of memorable (only sort of). But the anime could have ended much better, or the series could have continued another season.
Chrono Crusade (TV) Good Manga is much better, TV ending differs quite a bit. Not bad action, but Chrono is underpowered in the TV version. He's much better in the manga.
Clannad (movie) Very good Clannad... the movie is far more condensed than the anime, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. The essential parts are touched upon, and the plot techniques used work well. Music is good, characters are faithful, and you will feel joy and sadness throughout the whole movie. A must watch for Clannad fans, and a great way for newbies to get into the Clannad story.
Clannad (TV) Very good The first half of Clannad is all laugh and giggles, without too much substance until the end. This is just your regular harem anime (after story is a whole different beast) although every character is given plenty of depth through their individual side stories. The best part of this series is the Tomoyo arc episode... since I'm not a big fan of Nagisa, but that's just personal preference. Highly recommended for fans of school dramas...
Clannad After Story (TV) Excellent This one contains less comedy than the first one, and without understanding the basis of the game, it is also a lot harder to understand. However, this is also an unforgettable anime, containing more touching moments than the first. Animation and music are both wonderful, but the true beauty is in the storyline.
Claymore (TV) Excellent Awesome anime, great graphics, great fight scenes, and an excellent story. Even though distinguishing all the blond haired chicks gets pretty hard, every character is fairly memorable (especially with their special moves). Even though the anime kind of leaves you hanging, the manga is sure to be promising.
Clover (special) Decent Short little video that doesn't really detail too much, but wasn't a total waste of time either. The music fits eeringly well, and the animation, although old, is pretty. Most importantly, you don't get too much from the story, but what little you do get explains quite a bit while leaving quite a bit more for interpretation.
Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion (TV) Masterpiece This is filed away as one of the best anime's ever. Lelouch is such a bad-ass (except when he totally screws up halfway through) and everyone else fits their roles perfectly. There is a great balance of comedy and tragedy that makes this anime memorable in every way possible. Couple that with great art, awesome fight scenes, and an amazing storyline, this is definitely a top 10 anime.
Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion R2 (TV) Masterpiece The finale to one of the best anime of all time, this wraps up the story perfectly... The same characters are back (plus a few more just as memorable as before), and you have the same combination that makes the first season great. But the plot got both deeper and more epic (which usually means more death and destruction) and things quickly accelerated until the end. However, the end is truly the only one foreseeable for an anime with such tragedy imprinted into it, and it is one that will be remembered forever.
Comedy (OAV) Excellent Great short clip about a girl begging for help. No reason not to watch, especially since it's only 10 minutes.
Comic Party (TV) Very good A bunch of people trying to make manga, based off a hentai game... harem anime.. shrug... watch if you like the genre...
Comic Party Revolution (OAV) Very good More of the same, nothing new here...
Comic Party: Revolution (TV) Good Yet again, more of the same, no development in relationships/story/anything...
Connected (OAV) So-so Short anime music video. I have no idea whats going on in here... anyways, ayumi hamasaki song. If you like her music, watch it, or don't. Doesn't really matter to me. All you would be doing is wasting 3 minutes.
Cowboy Bebop (TV) Masterpiece Great anime. One of the first ones that I watched, and highly recommended to both newcomers to the fielt and experienced veterans (you can't be a veteran if you haven't watched this btw...) Great action sequences, great characters, great story, and flawless animation.
Cowboy Bebop: The Movie Masterpiece More cowboy Bebop, so more of the same goodness.
Crest of the Stars (TV) Excellent Beginning of the banner of the series trilogy. Great anime, with great dynamics and a unique universe. Worth watching!
Cromartie High School (TV) Good Short anime about extremely random events going on at a school. It's sort of like azumanga daioh, except for guys with a lot less cuteness and 10x the ridiculousness. The animation is fairly round, not the sharp lines that most animes are like, but it fits well into the anime. Music works well with the series, and the characters are entertaining, even memorable.
Cromartie High: The Movie (live-action movie) Good Even with cheezy special effects, this live action movie wasn't a bad watch. It was pretty entertaining to see the cromartie universe, no matter how ridiculous, brought to life like that. The acting might not be the best, but I thought the main character fit in perfectly fine. Worth watching if you're a fan of the anime or manga.
Cross Game (TV) Excellent Another great Mitsuru Adachi anime. As one of his newer works, the animation and art is classic Adachi with some modern touches. The plot is a bit more tragic than his other works, but it's like any other bittersweet memory... sadness with plenty of happiness mixed in. Otherwise, the journey and end is as expected for adachi.
D.C. ~Da Capo~ (TV) Very good Love story between guy, sister, and long lost childhood friend. Involves a bit of magic and quite a few emotions, not to mention a lot of supporting female cast members...
D.Gray-man (TV) Excellent Great anime, with nice fighting scenes, a deep intriguing storyline, and plenty of memorable characters. Not to mention the OP and ED music are all pretty good. Only major complaint I had was that the power levels in the anime doesn't really match up... if you watch it you should catch what I mean.
D.N.Angel (TV) Very good Okay anime, decent action scenes, but it can get annoying at times since its a bunch of middle school students. Story could be better, but animation is good, and relationships are fairly interesting.
D7 Peacemaker (amateur OAV) Very good Fun little anime to watch, more of a moving comic. Short, so an easy watch.
Dan Doh!! (TV) Good Anime on golf... have to love random sport animes... there really is no real plot, just an elementry school kid schooling everyone in golf... watch if you like golf or are really bored, nothing real special here.
Darker than Black (TV) Good
DearS (TV) Very good Big boobed alien slave girls... something like that. The girls are pretty, but its your standard naive girl paired with useless guy... perfect combo for frustrating people...
Death Billiards (movie) Decent
Death Note (live-action movie) Good
Death Note (TV) Excellent Great anime that lives up to its hype. Even though there are plenty of supernatural elements, the plot really shines due to the strength of the two primary characters. The cat and mouse game between them really shines through the suspenseful and desperate plays each of them employ. Coupled with a great cast of supporting characters, this anime is full of win.
Death Note Relight - Visions of a God (special) Good Recap of Death notes, but not as awesome as the original series. Only worth watching if you want a quick recap of the original story.
Delinquent in Drag (OAV) Good Yeah... not really that great of an anime, especially since it doesn't end but rather stops in the middle. Watch if you're really out of everything.
Demon Fighter Kocho (OAV) Good Nudity... yes nudity... but the anime is fairly comedic and it's short, so not a bad watch. Depends on the mood.
Den-noh Coil (TV) Very good
Denpa teki na Kanojo (OAV) Very good
Densha Otoko (live-action TV) Masterpiece This live-action show is ridiculous... an otaku getting with a female... makes me want to beat him up for trying to do something he should only be dreaming about. But as the show went on, I couldn't help but hope for the best, even though half the time he was so nervous/useless that I wanted to slap him upside the head. But this anime will bring about emotions that you never know, and will redefine what an underdog is. Great acting, great cast, and an unique but heartwarming storyline will make this series one to be remembered.
Densha Otoko (live-action movie) Decent Nowhere as good as the live-action series (mainly because the chick wasn't that pretty) and the other characters didn't seem as memorable. Might be worth watching if you're a die-hard fan of the series, but I gave it a major pass.
Destiny of the Shrine Maiden (TV) Decent WTF. Both this and the manga are weird as fudge. Too much sexual angst and libido flowing around. Animation is fairly pretty, and fights are decent, but the storyline is f'ed up. Watch on your own accord.
(The) Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya (movie) Excellent
Dororo (live-action movie) Very good Mediocre movie with some interesting fight scenes. The manga should be much more interesting and contain a lot more depth than the movie could manage.
(The) Dragon Dentist (specials) Very good
Durarara!! (TV) Good
Eden of the East (TV) Excellent Interesting anime that's hard to follow but ends up being highly enjoyable near the end. The main character is enjoyable to watch, especially if you can't tell if he's a genius or not. But the best part is the phone that can do anything the bearer wants or needs, and how they use it to transform the world.
Eden of the East: Paradise Lost (movie) Very good Continuation of Eden of the East, it advances the story some more.
Eden of the East: The King of Eden (movie) Very good
ef: a tale of melodies (TV) Excellent
ef: a tale of memories (TV) Very good
Elemental Gelade (TV) Good Easily watched, but easily forgotten. Anime was mediocre in all regards, wasn't really bad, but not outstanding either.
Elfen Lied (TV) Masterpiece A girl who can turn people into ground meat in milliseconds with her mind, whats not to like about this series. The girl in here is one of my favorite anime girls of all time, definetly worth watching if you like romance, blood, or lots and lots of death (beginning couple of minutes is a true bloodbath)
Elfen Lied (OAV) Very good Nothing really new here, more of a quick prequel to the TV series. Watch if you're a fan, but even then it's not really necessary.
Ergo Proxy (TV) Very good
Escaflowne: The Movie Good Different from the TV series, but has its own charm. Manga is better in my regard, but some people may like this more. Good animation, lots of fighting, and story is still very good.
Eureka Seven (TV) Very good Apocalyptic TV show, but very bright and entertaining. The beginning is fairly boring, and the main character can be real annoying at times, but it quickly gets much better, and has some great action sequences. Gets pretty out there near the end, but worth watching all the way through.
Excel Saga (TV) Good WTF... watch at your own discretions. This is one anime where I can't really place whether I hated it or liked it.
Fafner (TV) Very good I personally liked this anime a lot, more so than evangelion. But be prepared for plenty of death (not as much as X TV, but still quite a bit) and don't get attached to main characters. They personally killed off one of the best characters in the anime, but I won't spoil it for you.
(The) Familiar of Zero (TV) Very good
(The) Familiar of Zero: Knight of the Twin Moons (TV) Very good
Fate/stay night (TV) Excellent Same people who made Tsukihime, so it's bound to be great. Story is top-notch and the fighitng is excellent, even though there's really not all that much to it. Reminiscent of Mai Hime also, watch if you like that type of anime.
Fate/stay night TV reproduction (OAV) Decent
Fate/Zero (TV) Excellent
Fate/Zero (TV 2) Excellent
Final Approach (TV) Very good Small standard harem anime with nothing really important being done or said. Watch if you like this type of anime, otherwise just skip.
Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children (movie) Masterpiece GREAT MOVE, based off one of the best games ever made. No reason not to watch this unless you believe the crappier the anime, the better it is. Flawless action, great soundtrack, and I love Tifa's voice actress. Not to mention VINCENT VALENTINE is such a badass, and Cloud's Omnislash is one of the greatest attack moves ever...
Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within (US CG movie) Good Meh, nothing really special here. Great CG for its time, but story was lackluster.
Flame of Recca (TV) Very good Manga expands way more on the TV show, but the show itself displayed the great features that made the manga such a hit for me. Progressive leveling system so you don't get bored, deep characters for the villans, and plenty of humour thrown in.
FLCL (OAV) Very good WTF, all I can say about this.
Freedom (OAV) Very good
From the New World (TV) Excellent
From Up On Poppy Hill (movie) Good
Fruits Basket (TV 1/2001) Very good Love type anime with a cute girl and zodiac animals... strangely, I liked the english dub more than the original japanese voice.
Full Metal Panic! (TV) Masterpiece One of the best animes ever. Contains one of the most memorable male characters you can ever meet, not to mention a hilarious cast who can be downright lethal if need be. Not to mention one of the cutest girls in anime also (Captain Tessa) and great action makes this a must watch anime for everyone.
Full Metal Panic! The Second Raid (TV) Excellent Continuation of the story, a lot more serious than the original, but a lot more action involved. Quite a bit darker also, but Sagara/Chidori relationship gets expanded quite a bit.
Full Metal Panic! The Second Raid (OAV) Excellent Cute little OAV detailing Tessa's life and furthers her relations with Sagara a bit. Watch if you're a fan.
Full Metal Panic? Fumoffu (TV) Masterpiece The funniest anime ever. Not much to do with the original story, but it doesn't need to. This is non-stop full of laughs and will be sure to entertain from beginning to end. I challenge you to find any more funny than this one.
Full Moon o Sagashite (TV) Excellent Cute anime about a little girl and death gods. The music was great, the story was good, and Takuto's performance was amazing. All of this combine to make this a very memorable show, not to mention drama is thrown in very appropriately, even with laughs everywhere. A must watch. Manga is even better in my opinion, but both are still top rated.
Fullmetal Alchemist (TV) Excellent Great story, great universe that this anime is set in. Laughter takes up a lot of the beginning of the anime, but it quickly turns serious and fairly lethal. But there are nice effects, and using alchemy as weapons is a great idea. Sadly, this also has one of the most memorable deaths in anime, but it adds a lot to the series.
Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood (TV) Excellent
Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood (OAV) Very good
Fullmetal Alchemist: The Movie - Conqueror of Shamballa Excellent Continuation of the series. Kind of wraps things up, kind of doesn't, but still a good watch. Sadly, Ed and Winry still don't get together...
Fushigi Yugi (TV) Very good Even with one of the most annoying girls in all of anime, this series has quite a few redeeming qualities. A great story, very nice action sequences, plenty of death where its needed (although I do have to forewarn you that women and children are equally suspectible to death in here).
Fushigi Yugi (OAV) Very good OAV to further the romance of annoying girl and Tamahome... nothing really new.
Fushigi Yugi (OAV 2) Very good Another OAV, not as in-depth or interesting as the original. Watch if you really feel you have to see it.
Fushigi Yugi Eikoden (OAV) Very good OAV of the series, nothing real memorable. Watch if you're a true fan.
Futakoi (TV) Decent 6 pairs of twins and one guy. If you can't guess where I'm going here, then you might as well go back to watching shiatty American cartoons. Watch if you're a fan of harem animes.
Gankutsuou: The Count of Monte Cristo (TV) Very good Very interesting art style. It will definetly throw everyone off since your eyes aren't used to the way people move in this series. Regardless, the animation is still top notch, and being based off the best book of all time really makes this series shine. The story differs quite a bit from the book, but it fits into the anime persona very well. Not to mention Haydee is in here... who we all love!
(The) Garden of Sinners (movie series) Masterpiece Awesome movie... the pace is fairly slow (what do you expect from the same people as Shingetsutan Tsukihime) but the atmosphere totally makes up for it. The animation is top notch, the music beautifully done, and the romance subdued yet passionate. If you're a fan of Tsukihime, this is a must watch...
(The) Garden of Words (movie) Very good
Genshiken (TV) Very good
Genshiken (OAV) Good
Genshiken 2 (TV) Very good
Getbackers (TV) Very good Great action, great powers, and plenty of laughs make this a great anime to watch. Nothing is really outstanding, but it will keep you wanting to see more. Also contains one of the best kind of villan kind of good-guy in all of animedom (Guy with the J).
Ghost in the Shell (movie) Excellent The universe this is set in is probably one of the most intricate in all of anime, not to mention this series has humour, philosophy, action, and everything else that we all come to love from anime. Beginning of the whole series, this introduces us to all the main characters, especially the seargent.
Ghost in the Shell 2: Innocence (movie) Excellent Sequel of the original, less action here and more talking, but the animation is superb. Definetly worth watching, especially if you're a fan of the first one.
Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex (TV) Masterpiece Differs from the movies a bit, but contains the laughing man, which is all that needs to make this series interesting. Lots of action, lots of death, and lots of confusion if you don't follow along very closely.
Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex 2nd GIG (TV) Masterpiece More of the same from SAC, but a new villan and a lot more going on now. Still fighting the same kind of crimes and dealing with the same problems, but all the characters we love are here. Sad about the robots though...
Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex: Solid State Society (movie) Excellent Not as good as the first movie, but better than the second. The whole premise was kind of weird, but worth watching if you're a fan of the series.
(The) Girl Who Leapt Through Time (movie) Excellent The whole anime was very well done, from beginning to end, you're never sure what's going to happen or how things will turn out. The animation is beautiful, with great voice acting and musical score. And the story, while dramatic at times, never goes over the top while also driving home the point of the whole movie. A must watch for everyone...
Girls Bravo (TV) Good Harem anime. Nothing really to see here. Cheap laughs and big boobs. Lets move along.
Goku Sayonara Zetsubou-sensei (OAV) Very good
Gokusen (live-action TV) Excellent A little bit different than the anime, but I think it's better. Japanese live drama based off anime are usually fairly nicely done, and this is no exception. Good acting, nice humour, and even if the fighting is fake, this series really does bring quite a bit of emotions.
(The) Gokusen (TV) Good A little bit different than the live action series, but standard gokusen by itself. Animation isin't really spectacular, it's mainlythe ridiculous story and random comedy that make this series worth watching. If you want to see a female version of GTO, then this anime would be right for you. Otherwise there's nothing special here...
Gokusen (live-action TV 2) Very good I didn't think it was as good as the first, probably since everything followed almost the exact same formula. It's just more of the same, but if I had to choose one or the other, the first one is much better.
Gokusen Special: Sayonara 3-nen D-gumi (live-action special) Very good Nothing really special here, only watch if you really like the TV drama. Just a recap.
Golden Boy (OAV) Excellent This has to be one of the funniest anime's I've ever seen, although it's definetly on the perverted side... no seriously, this is borderline hentai, but it's still a great series. Curvy women, and one of the funniest/most capable guys I've ever see in anime. I wouldn't mind trading in everything to be him... highly recommended.
(The) Great Passage (TV) Excellent
Grenadier (TV) Good Reloading a gun by using huge jiggly boobies to launch bullets in the air. End of Comment.
GTO Drama Special (live-action special) Masterpiece Pretty good as a stand-alone movie, but better to wait to watch after the series, especially if you haven't seen the anime or read the manga.
GTO: Great Teacher Onizuka (TV) Masterpiece This anime comes right behind FMP Fumoffu as funniest anime of all times. The whole premise of the series is ridiculous, but it's really well done. It also helps that the anime is based off of one of the greatest manga's ever made. Full of laughs, with plenty of drama thrown in. Suitable for all ages (well, maybe not kids, the main character is only a little bit of a perv... a little bit...)
GTO: Great Teacher Onizuka (live-action TV) Masterpiece One of the first JDrama's I've seen and it's damn good. The person who plays Onizuka doesn't look very much like him, and it's missing Urumi, who has to be my favorite characters. But the drama is really well-done, and will give you a great feeling by the end of it. Not to mention it has one of the best opening songs ever.
GTO: The Movie (live-action movie) Good Fairly weak compared to the other two. They sent Onizuka to some far off place with a random class, who aren't nearly as interesting as the ones he had before. Watch if you must, you're not missing much.
Gunbuster (OAV) Excellent I'm usually not a big fan of anime revolving around girls, but there was so much heart and effort coming from the main character that I couldn't help but like it. Noriko is your standard useless girl, but needless to say, she rises to the occasion magnificently. Coupled with a small but strong cast of secondary characters and a not so unique but full of feeling story, and you have an anime worth watching through the ages. Not even the old animation nor cheesy lines can detract from the emotions that invaribly will rise because of this anime.
Gunbuster 2: Diebuster (OAV) Very good Gunbuster with a modern twist and 12000 years in the future. Not as good as the first one, but still retains the elements that make Gunbuster such a great series. Animation is top-notch, with some pretty extreme fight scenes. However, there's also quite some wtf moments due to lack of explanations. If you haven't seen the first one, you wouldn't be missing much, but the explanation of the gunbuster history might go over your head. Characters are interesting, not as great as the first one, but they still add to this anime. Most importantly, the ending of this anime ties back to the first one... in perhaps one of the most heartwrenching moments possible...
Gungrave (TV) Very good The beginning was cool, then the middle was like... WTF is going on, oh... I see, and the ending finishes everything up, nicely or not is up to you. Decent animation, well-done fights (especially near the end), and well, quite a bit of sadness. Not bad to watch, but I didn't especially enjoy it.
Gunsmith Cats (OAV) Good Cute little OAV about 2 girls who don't exactly know what they're doing, but they're cute and can get away with a lot. Worth watching, especially since it's so short, but it will be entertaining.
GUNxSWORD (TV) Very good Reminiscent of Bebop/Trigun, but not nearly as good. Story is mediocre, very reminscent of Trigun, but the main character isin't nearly as cool or likable. Watch if you like giant robots and post-apocalypse type animes.
Gurren Lagann (TV) Masterpiece
Gurren Lagann the Movie – The Lights in the Sky Are Stars Excellent
Gurren Lagann the Movie –Childhood's End- Very good
H2 (TV) Very good Mitsuru Adachi, which basically explains why I love this series so much. A great sense of humour, coupled with intense scenes and a great romantic love interest. Probably not her best baseball series (reserved for Touch) but still worth watching. Animation might be a bit iffy for people, but story is still top-notch. Anime doesn't conclude well, but manga is worth it.
H2: Kimi to Ita Hibi (live-action TV) Masterpiece Mitsuru Adachi + Live Action JDrama... this makes it the best JDrama I have ever seen. The girls are pretty, the guys are awesome, and there's plenty of Adachi humour to go around. The addition of a great opening song makes this a great live action show all around.
Haibane Renmei (TV) So-so I never got what this anime was truly about, nor did I really care. Animation is pretty, and the story is deep (thus why I didn't care), but in the end it was not for me. Too slow-paced and melodramatic at times.
Hajime no Ippo (TV) Masterpiece One of the best anime ever, even though its about boxing. After watching this, I wanted to go out to a gym and start boxing... which probably would have been a horrible idea. Great anime start to finish.
Hajime no Ippo - Champion Road (special) Excellent Just a special for THE BEST BOXING ANIME EVER!!!!! Watch after the series, no real reason to watch this otherwise. You'll miss out too much unless you start from the beginning.
Hajime no Ippo: New Challenger (TV) Excellent
Hanasaku Iroha - Blossoms for Tomorrow (TV) Very good
Hand Maid May (TV) Good Standard human/robot relationship. Not as cute as Chobits, nor as funny. Watch if you really like this genre, otherwise stick with Chobits and don't bother.
Happy Lesson (TV) Good Standard harem anime with 5 teachers, the scientist one was the only reason I watched this (reminded me of Rei). Nothing special here, watch if you really like the series.
Happy Lesson (OAV) Good More stories of the same, again, nothing new.
Happy Lesson Advanced (TV) Good Yes yes, read the above comments. More of the same.
Happy Lesson The Final (OAV) Good This series just doesn't end... well, I guess it says Final, but still. More of the same craziness...
Hayate the Combat Butler (TV) Very good
Hayate the Combat Butler! Cuties (TV) Decent
Hayate the Combat Butler! Heaven Is a Place on Earth (movie) So-so
Hayate the Combat Butler!! (OAV) Decent
Hayate the Combat Butler!! (TV) Good
Hayate the Combat Butler: Can't Take My Eyes Off You (TV) Good
Hellsing (TV) Masterpiece OMG BAD-ASS VAMPIRES DESTROYING EACH OTHER. Forget the pansy vampires in Western Mythology, these should be how real vampires are. Enough power to level cities and totally scare the living daylights out of anyone. Great animation, bad-ass storyline, and some of the best powers anybody can ever have. A must watch.
Hellsing Ultimate (OAV) Very good
High School of the Dead (TV) Good
Higurashi no Naku Koroni Gaiden Nekogoroshi-hen (OAV) Good
Hikaru no Go (TV) Excellent Who knew an anime about Go would be so good or addicting. Comedy, sadness, romance, and plenty of action (surprisingly) make this not only the best Go anime, but a top anime overall. I don't feel like the series really ended, which detracted a bit (I'm a sucker for real endings) but its still a great watch from beginning to finish.
Hikaru No Go: New Year Special Very good This attempts to wrap up the series some more? Or continues it some more? Either way, more of the same Go action that we've come to love. Watch before the series, nor reasone to watch this otherwise.
His and Her Circumstances (TV) Very good One of the first anime's I've ever seen. It starts fairly silly and light-hearted, but quickly turns serious and dramatic. The characters are fairly lovable, althought quite flawed. Artwork is real pretty, and story is a fairly interesting version of the standard high school romances. Ends fairly abruptly, but manga continues much better.
Honey and Clover (TV) Masterpiece This anime contains my hero, someone who if I could emulate, I would do so perfectly. Morita-san has talent, drive, a great sense of humour, and total belief in himself and what's right or wrong. The secondary characters also added a lot, but Morita-san is what made this anime the great series that it is.
Honey and Clover (live-action movie) Masterpiece Live-action movie of the honey and clover series. One of the few live actions I'm not sure that I like more than the actual series, but still a very good watch. Lots of laughs and emotions to go around.
Honey and Clover II (TV) Masterpiece Continues where the first series left off, with a bit more seriousness than the original series, but a lot more progression in the storyline. Wraps up the romance arcs, and everyone is happy... more or less. A little disappointing, but at least there's a definite end.
Hotarubi no Mori e (movie) Good
House of Five Leaves (TV) Decent
Howl's Moving Castle (movie) Masterpiece One of the prettiest movies I've ever seen, with a great soundtrack, very memorable characters, and excellent animation. Nothing less from Miyazaki. A must watch for all anime fans.
Hunter X Hunter (TV 1999) Excellent A series about 2 kids? Forget it. A series about a master assasin kid, and another kid with an indomitable will and ability to solve any situation, not to mention many other memorable characters with unique powers, and you have the beginning of a great adventure series. Animation is fairly old, but well done, and the world they live in is as great as fantasy worlds go. No reason not to watch.
Hunter X Hunter (OAV) Excellent Continuation of the Hunter X Hunter series, really need to watch after the main series, otherwise confusion will abound. More of the same action and familiar faces from the first season.
Hunter X Hunter: G I Final (OAV) Excellent The end of the Greed Island OAV, which wraps up the anime as best as it can. The manga continues more, but the anime could be considered at the end of this series.
Hunter X Hunter: Greed Island (OAV) Excellent Beginning of the Greed Island arc, which is probably the best arc in the story due to how Gon and Killua develop and the lessons they learn. Not to mention the fights are most impressive.
I''s Pure (OAV) Good A little OAV that picks up certain scenes from the comic. Well-drawn and the voice acting is great. Watch if you're a fan of the manga.
Ichigo 100% (TV) Good Standard guy vs. many girl love story, but a lot more well-done than the average one. First, the girls are freaking hot, not to mention their personalities really shine. Even though the main guy is pretty useless for most of the story, which will cause endless frustration, the story will bring plenty of laughter. Animation is decent, voice-acting is good, and music fits. Not worth watching over the manga, but still great for fans of this genre.
Ichigo 100% (special) Very good Special little story that really doesn't make the story progress or do anything. Watch if you read the manga or saw the original series, otherwise nothing to see here.
Ichigo 100% (OAV) Very good Shot OAV of the same, watch this if you like the original series, otherwise stay away.
Iketeru Futari (TV) Very good ... Not as bad as ebichu, but still fairly ridiculous a lot of the time. The girls are cute though, and the animation is okay. Watch if you're into dumb comedies or have nothing else to see. Ending doesn't really do anything, but the story is fairly funny.
Initial D (TV) Masterpiece OMG... CARS... DRIFTING... This series probably spawned the most well-known car that has ever come out of Japan. The animation is weak on the people, but the story is amazing. The races are intense, not to mention they have every god-car that Japan has spawned. And the music makes the races even more up close and personal. A must watch for all anime or car lovers... women need not apply!
Initial D: Battle Stage (OAV) Good More of the same initial D goodness. Watch if you like recaps.
Initial D: Battle Stage 2 (OAV) Very good More recap goodness.
Initial D: Extra Stage (OAV) Very good Boring. No Takumi. Pass
Initial D: Fourth Stage (TV) Masterpiece OMG. OMG. OMG. Subaru WRX. More god-cars, more racing, and more bad-ass moves. Contrary to others, I believe Takumi did what he needed in the race against the Cappucino. Watch to understand what I mean.
Initial D: Second Stage (TV) Masterpiece NA engine upgrade... totally lets Takumi dominate now.
Initial D: Third Stage (movie) Masterpiece REVENGE :). More racing goodness.
Innocent Venus (TV) Good Started with promise, but then went downhill near the end. Not sure exactly what happened in the anime to make it go in such a direction, but it didn't agree with it me. Animation is okay, story has been done before though more or less.
Intrigue in the Bakumatsu - Irohanihoheto (TV) So-so Animation is definetly not up to par with other animes, and storyline is a bit lacking (taking history and adding some weird spin to it). Watch only if you like that time period or if you have nothing else to really watch.
Inukami! (TV) Good ELEPHANT! If you see this series, you'll know exactly what I mean. Decent anime overall, with no obvious shortcomings. Plot might have one or two twist and turns, but the whole series never really gets serious, even at the end. Other than that, characters are plentiful and fairly interesting. Humor is widespread and might be a bit tasteless at times, but overall differentiates this anime from most. Recommended for a nice light watch, especially if you like ELEPHANTS!
Inukami! (movie) Good MORE ELEPHANTS... Seriously, I don't know how kids can watch this... I mean... sigh... Other than that, the animation is better than the first one, with more contrast and better tones, yet still a pretty standard anime. Everything else is standard inukami, so if you like the tv series, then you should enjoy the movie. I don't know if I'd label this a sequel or not, since nothing here really relates to the main storyline anyways...
Inuyasha (TV) Good THIS ANIME NEVER ENDS. NEVER. Watch if you're a fan of Rumiko Takahashi, but this is far from her best series (Maison Ikkoku was great!). But you do have your standard love triangle, mixed in with some bad-ass fights at times and progressive leveling (I'm a sucker for things with this). All in all, not a bad anime, but dragged on a little long.
InuYasha the Movie 2: The Castle Beyond the Looking Glass Good Ugh, more Inuyasha.
InuYasha the Movie 3: Swords of an Honorable Ruler Very good This is the story that never ends. Yes it goes on and on my friends.
InuYasha the Movie 4: Fire on the Mystic Island Very good Some people started singing it not knowing what it was.
InuYasha the Movie: Affections Touching Across Time Good And they continue singing it just because this is the song that never ends...
InuYasha: The Final Act (TV) Excellent
(The) Irresponsible Captain Tylor (TV) Good This was an all around good anime... the comedy is interesting, and the characters all have their quirks. The story is fairly weak, but the ridiculous ways Tylor got through situations more than made up for it.
Jin-Roh - The Wolf Brigade (movie) Very good Weird. Artsy. Depressing. Watch it if you like dark movies, otherwise if you're like me, stay away and watch something with lots of flowers and sunshine :P
JoJo's Bizarre Adventure (OAV) Very good THE MAN ANIME. This just might be more MAN ANIME than Initial D. Bad ass fights, bad ass superpowers, and bad ass villans. Even though you miss a lot of backstory from the manga, and the animation is old, this is still a must see for MEN. Great story too, makes most other anime's look benign.
Kaiba (TV) Very good
Kaiji (TV) Good
Kamichu! (TV) Good This anime isn't my usual cup of tea... anime about middle school have no appeal to me, but it wasn't that bad of a watch after all. Yurie annoyed me quite a bit during the anime, but even though it was enjoyable watching her trials and tribulations. The character designs left something to be desired, but the overall animation and musical soundtrack fit well. The story is quite an interesting twist on the usual school romance animes. Recommended watching for younger audiences or if you have free time.
Kamikaze Kaito Jeanne (TV) Very good Based off a manga writen by the same author as Full Moon wo Sagashite... More of your romance mixed in with a little supernatural powers. However, the main characters are fairly lovable, animation is pretty, albeit old, and music adds plenty of character. Nothing real groundbreaking here, but still a fun anime to watch from beginning to end.
Kanon (TV 2/2006) Excellent
Karin (TV) Good Cute little anime about a vampire who makes people super-energetic. Nothing too special here, decent animation, plenty of laughs here and there, and a couple of memorable characters. Decent all the way around. Watch if you need a laugh or have some time to kill.
Katanagatari (TV) Very good
Keitai Shoujo (ONA) Not really good Don't really remember what this was about. Which basically sums up what I think of this anime. Nothing worse remembering.
Kemonozume (TV) Bad I expected a lot more from this anime, but it failed to deliver. Animation is a departure from the norm... whether good or bad depends on the viewer. Story is okay, fairly interesting with a couple of cool characters, but still lots of WTF moments. Ending was kind of weak, and it contained one thing that I hated (dumbass girls doing stupid things because of guys...)
KenIchi the Mightiest Disciple (TV) Excellent This anime is badass in so many ways, but the characters are really what makes this anime shine. All of the Ryouzanpaku masters are hilarious, and they complement the main character really well. Additionally, the storyline, albeit fairly obvious, had plenty of cliffhangers and keeps the watcher hooked. Clean animation, great music, and enormous fight scenes make this an anime to be watched.
Kiba (TV) Good There are some fairly colossal fights in here, and plenty of death abound. Again, the progressive leveling system makes the fights in here better than ordinary, and the story isin't half bad. Been sent into an alternate dimension has a been there done that feel, but executed fairly well, although some parts are pretty stretched. Watch if you want to see huge spirits fighting each other, otherwise nothing really that interesting here.
Kiddy Grade (TV) Very good Anime of 2 girls with superpowers... but there is so much more to this. Such as Lesbian love, reincarnation, and plenty of curves. Animation is good, fights are fast and furious, and plenty of comedy thrown in. Ending is mediocre, but the anime itself was a fun watch.
Kids on the Slope (TV) Excellent
Kiki's Delivery Service (movie) Excellent Great movie by the best animation studio ever. Not as great as some of Ghibli's later works, but even their most mediocre piece will trump nearly everything out there. The animation style is classical Ghibli, nice pastel colors that makes the anime an easy refreshing watch. The story is heartwarming, enough to bring forth all kinds of emotions (the good ones...) The characters are lovable and unforgettable, each with their own quirks that add to the general magic of the story. That's what Ghibli specializes in... magic... Classical Disney of the west I would say...
Kimagure Orange Road (TV) Excellent This animation here is definetly dated, but the romance story is top notch. You have you're standard love triangle, but every character's personality really shines. Even if the music is dated, it also adds a lot of flavor to the anime in general. Definetly worth watching if you like slow-paced love animes.
Kimagure Orange Road (OAV) Excellent Just adding some episodes to the already strong anime. Watch if you're a fan of the series.
Kimagure Orange Road: The Movie Good This will definetly make you feel terrible for one of the characters, and think Kyousuke's the biggest ass in the world. I have no real solution to offer either, but this movie goes from comedy to drama in one heartbreaking second. A must watch for fans of the series.
Kimi ga Nozomu Eien ~Next Season~ (OAV) Good
Kimi ni Todoke - From Me to You (TV) Very good
Kimi ni Todoke 2nd Season (TV) Very good
Kino no Tabi: The Beautiful World (movie) Excellent Continuation of Kino's Journey, watch if you liked the series.
Kino's Journey (TV) Excellent Great anime in all respects. Beautiful animation, excellent soundtrack, and a breathtaking storyline that won't cease to amaze you. The stories all relate to some part of human nature, more often than not ending in tragedy. Kino is one to remember, with a way of doing things thats both chilling, yet heartwarming. And Hermes provides enough comedic relief in a series that is about as funny as it is depressing. This is definitely an anime to be seen.
Kino's Travels: Life Goes On (movie) Excellent Watch if you liked the series. Nothing especially different.
Kirameki Project (OAV) Very good I was skeptical about this anime, but the ending was good enough to leave me with a good impression. I really liked the main male characters a lot, and they really shined in the anime. The female characters provided quite a bit of eye candy and comedic relief. Animation is fairly good, and fight scenes interesting. There was a feeling the anime was unfinished, or some ideas never made it through, which was mildly annoying since there was a lot of potential there, but overall this anime is worth watching.
Knight Hunters (TV) Good This is a hit or miss. Some episodes were good and fairly memorable, while some were easily forgotten. Animation is kinda old, and the fights aren't that great. Story also is been there done that, but all in all, I don't feel this was as bad as people thought it was.
Knight Hunters Eternity (TV) Good More death, which is something this series has never shied away from. This might be better than the original series since the fighting is quite a bit better, even though it's still very spotty at times. Nothing else has really changed...
Kodocha (TV) Very good Even though this anime was probably geared towards kids, I enjoyed this immensely (The whole series is pretty much all comedy to make it a laughfest, but there was just enough drama to get some emotions stirring). The animation was clean and easy to watch (although kind of scizophrenic at times), but the soundtrack didn't have anything special. Voice acting was good, and the storyline was fairly well laid out. Some things are left unresolved (nothing major), but all in all, a nice clean watch.
Kodocha (OAV) So-so Nowhere as good as the main TV show, and this only covers a slim fraction of the whole kodocha story. The animation is fairly old looking at it and the voices/music wasn't that great (although that may have just been the quality of the one I had). I wouldn't recommend watching this unless you didn't have access to the newer TV series.
Koi Kaze (TV) Excellent Ha... Brother sister incest. And before you make up your mind, pretty animation, great music, and brilliant character development makes this one of my favorite anime. If you can get over the fact that they're brother and sister, you'll be a fan immediatly.
Kure-nai (OAV) Good
Kurenai (TV) Very good
Kyo no Gononi (OAV) Very good Based off one of the funniest manga's ever. A bunch of grade schoolers acting like adults, but with very childish behavior. Not to mention the romance between the characters is not only funny, but really sweet at times. A must watch if you like comedies.
Kyo no Gononi (TV) Good
Last Exile (TV) Very good One of the more interesting anime's I've seen, with a fully immersive world that would rival most other anime's. The animation is beautiful, and the fights, though not as fierce as in other movies, have a picturesque quality to them that makes it that much better. Add in a great music score, great voice acting, a unique storyline, and you have a recipe for a winner.
Last Order Final Fantasy VII (OAV) Good Quick OAV about Cloud's past. We get to see more of Zak and Aerith, and some more backstory on the whole FF7 universe. Was a fairly quick and easy watch, especially for fans of the series, but nothing really special for people new to the FF7 universe.
Last Quarter (live-action movie) Very good This live action had a great musical soundtrack, and great acting, although the storyline was so incoherent as to be unwatchable at times. I would definetly recommend reading the manga before watching the movie so you can get a better understanding of what's going on. Other than that, this movie was a decent watch, with the setting and cinematography excellent.
(The) Legend of the Galactic Heroes (OAV) Masterpiece OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG!!!!!!! THIS ANIME ROCKS!!!!! WATCH IT NOW! NOW NOW NOW!!!! Even though the animation is ancient, the story is truly a masterpiece. Every character is memorable, regardless if you hate him/her or not, and you are sure to have favorites that you will never forget. The fights might be hard to understand, but the scale that everything takes place with is breathtaking. The story might seem fragmented at times, but the beauty of the series really comes through. Girls might not like it, but any fan of military history and war buff will instantly fall in love with this series. WATCH IT!!!!!
Legend of the Galactic Heroes: A Hundred Billion Stars, A Hundred Billion Lights (OAV) Good Another OAV filling in more backstory on Kircheis and Reinhard, with some pretty good stories thrown in there. The premise of these stories are fairly different from the main OAV, but that's to be expected since he can't start as a commander of thousands of ships. I would recommend watching before the main OAV since they're prequels, but you can watch them before and after. Animation, music, everything is similar to the main series, so if you liked that, you will probably like this.
Legend of the Galactic Heroes: Golden Wings (OAV) Very good Again, more backstory, but not as intriguing as the other ones. Watch if you're a diehard fan of the series, and I'd recommend you watching this before the main OAV just to keep linear order. This should probably be the very first one to watch if you're planning on watching the whole series.
Legend of the Galactic Heroes: My Conquest is the Sea of Stars (movie) Masterpiece Ahhhh.. for me, this was the one that started it all. This gave me my first tast of Legend of Galactic Heroes, and it was ambrosia. Even though the animation was old, the music, the story, and the people themselves captured me from the start. This is a must watch, and definetly before the main series.
Legend of the Galactic Heroes: Overture to a New War (movie) Very good Since it's an overview, its only worth watching if you're a diehard fan of the series, or want to ease into the series without actually starting the main OAV. Everything else is similar to what's been said before.
Legend of the Galactic Heroes: Spiral Labyrinth (OAV) Very good This was probably my least favorite OAV, especially since Yang Wenli was played by a different voice actor (and definetly not as good as the first one... tear...). Thats pretty much what killed this for me, that, and I wasn't that big of a fan of Yang Wenli in the first place.
Looking Up At The Half-Moon (TV) Good
Lost Universe (TV) Good Reminiscent of Outlaw Star (animation especially), but nowhere as good. The comedy was decent at times, and the fights could be interesting, especially since the universe they're in seemed to be more interesting than the outlaw star one. But the execution came off much weaker, and the characters were quite a bit more annoying. Not really a recommended watch unless you really liked outlaw star (which was the only reason I watched this...)
Love Hina (TV) Excellent Probably one of the most famous animes ever made (this pretty much defined the Harem type of anime for me). Hilarious scenes, decent storyline, memorable characters, some of the best talent in the field, and a great ending made this one of my favorite animes. Keitaro gets blown into outer space and pummeled into oblivion more times than the series has frames for. The manga is better than the TV show, but both are more than great to watch.
Love Hina Again (OAV) Excellent The true end to the story (anime wise), and probably my favorite love hina episodes. More of the same goodness that we come to expect from Love Hina, with the addition to a new character (who isin't my favorite, but fits well with the others). Watch to wrap this great series up.
Love Hina Spring Special - I Wish Your Dream Excellent Not exactly my favorite special, but still contains the classic Love Hina formula of overblow circumstances of everything. Watch to continue the storyline, and especially watch to get more Love Hina goodness.
Love Hina X'mas Special - Silent Eve Excellent One of the better specials, probably because it's a lot more touching than most of the epsiodes. This special has a bit more romance, and a bit less comedy, but probably because it's Christmas, it fits really well. Definetly worth watching for fans.
Love*Com the Movie (live-action movie) Very good Not a bad adaptation of lovely complex. The people in there seemed younger than they should be, but they were decent at their roles. More importantly, the movie captures the comedy that really makes this series shine. The random english voice-overs were really annoying, especially since I couldn't understand what the guy was saying half the time. Overall though, this would be a decent stand-alone movie, or a great companion to the series.
Lovely Complex (TV) Excellent This has got to be one of the funniest comdies I've seen in a while. And not a stupid comedic way with people flying through walls, but with quite a bit of wit. The animation is decent, music is great, but what really defines this is the two main characters. They work so well together that it could just be the two of them throughout the whole series, and it would still be almost as good. Highly recommended for all anime fans.
Lunar Legend Tsukihime (TV) Excellent Based on one of the best H-Games ever (more like a book)... this anime haunts your soul with the pain every characters feel. The ending might not seem satisfactory to a lot of y'all (the game has multiple endings...) but it is what it is... This is a pure storyline driven anime, with some interesting fight scenes... but those are just garnish... Can't say enough about this one... you have to watch it and make your own decision.
M.o.v.e: Raimei - Out of Kontrol (TV promo) Excellent Quick little movie about Initial D and the M.O.V.E. band. I especially enjoyed it since I <3 M.O.V.E. and I <3 <3 Inital D. Watch if you're a fan of either.
Maburaho (TV) Very good Even though this anime was pretty bland at times, I really enjoyed it (I'm a sucker for anime's involving sacrifice). Not to mention you have some pretty hot chica's in here, with a clean art style (nothing special, but pleasant to watch). Overall, worth watching to kill time or if you like the whole 1 guy many girl anime.
Macross 7 (TV) Decent
Macross 7 Plus (OAV) Decent
Macross 7 the Movie: The Galaxy's Calling Me! Decent
Macross Dynamite 7 (OAV) Decent
Macross Frontier (TV) Excellent
Macross Frontier: The False Songstress (movie) Very good
Macross Frontier: The Wings of Farewell (movie) Good
Macross Plus (OAV) Good
Macross Zero (OAV) Excellent The thing that stood out most was the beautiful animation, and the soundtrack that touches your heartstrings. The storyline also contains plenty of action, romance, and sadness. It didn't have too much to do with the whole Macross saga in my opinion, so watching this as a stand alone anime would be perfectly fine. Highly recommended.
Magic Knight Rayearth (TV) Excellent For an anime geared towards girls, this was surprisingly good and refreshing. Classic CLAMP, creating a world that you can really get immersed in and wouldn't mind living in. Also, classic older style CLAMP with plenty of death and heartache to go around, with random giant robots and fairly detailed fights. The animation is definitely dated, but the story is top-notch, and the music memorable. Even now the ending still haunts me...
Magic Knight Rayearth 2 (TV) Excellent More of the same, although this one ends on a more upbeat note. New characters are introduced, and all of them are fairly entertaining to watch. The battles are just as fierce as the first one, maybe even more so since they're on a grander scale.
Magikano (TV) Very good Uneventful little OAV that has some decent comedy, but falls short overall. The story was mediocre, animation was mediocre, and even though some pretty interesting twists occur, the story fails to deliver these very well. A decent watch if you have time.
Mahoraba ~Heartful days~ (TV) Very good Fairly interesting romantic comedy centered around a... interesting landlady. The people are colorful, and the animation is nicely drawn, with an interesting story. However, the anime fails to conclude anything, which is the worst that can happen in a romantic comedy. Decent watch, manga should be better however.
Mahoromatic - Automatic Maiden (TV) Good This series is fun, colorful, and has plenty of laughs to keep you interested. This is your standard romantic AI robot comedy, but it's fairly well done. Animation is pretty, music is entertaining, and characters are fairly memorable. A decent watch for romantic comedy fans.
Mahoromatic: Something More Beautiful (TV) Good This series is fun, colorful... who am I kidding... Everything goes to hell. This quickly became one of the most depressing anime's I've ever seen, and the pace made such a 180 that even Kimi Ga Nozomu Eien was no match for this... Sigh...
Mahoromatic: Summer Special Good Nice quick special to add a little more to the Mahoromatic universe. Nothing really special or interesting going on here, just a side story. Worth watching if you're a fan of the series.
(La) Maison en Petits Cubes (movie) Very good
Maison Ikkoku (TV) Excellent One of the best romantic comedies I've seen, especially since it's written by one of the most proficent mangaka of all time... Even though anime style is fairly dated, the story is still topnotch and the characters are unforgettable.
Maison Ikkoku - Apartment Fantasy (live-action movie) Decent Live action movie based off of the manga, wasn't anything special however. Very poorly directed in my opinion, with nothing to really grab attention or make it worthwhile to watch\
Maison Ikkoku: Kanketsuhen (movie) Good Sort of an alternate retelling/continuation of the anime series. Wasn't too great of a special, only watch if you're a fan of the anime.
March comes in like a lion (TV) Excellent
March comes in like a lion (TV 2) Excellent
Martian Successor Nadesico (TV) Very good Another great space anime series, although fairly weird at times with quite a few changes in pace. The story was interesting, and the fight scenes were well-animated. The premise of the movie could have been expanded more, but most of the loose ends were tied up. Very worth watching.
Martian Successor Nadesico: The Motion Picture - Prince of Darkness Very good This movie contained quite a few nice action scenes, even if they were pretty disjointed at times. I did have some issues piecing together the storyline behind this, and the ending never did really explain things. Other than though, this series is worth watching for fans of the series.
(The) Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya (TV) Excellent
(The) Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya (TV 2009 renewal) Decent
(The) Melancholy of Haruhi-chan Suzumiya (ONA) Very good
Memories (movie) Very good Even though there were 3 seperate unrelated stories, each of them was a great watch. What really makes these stories shine is the way they're told, and the mystery surrounding each story. We're never given the entire picture, just pieces at a time, letting our imagination do the rest. The animation was good, and the soundtrack fit well with each story, adding quite a bit of atmosphere. Overall, any of these seperate would be a great watch. All 3 together is just cream on the pie.
Mermaid Forest (OAV) Very good
Mermaid Forest (TV) Decent A fairly interesting anime series, albeit really weird at times and kind of boring also. A look into how humans will do anything for immortality and how ugly our souls are at times... meh... Animation was mediocre, the storyline was what kept this going.
Mermaid's Scar (OAV) Very good
Midori Days (TV) Very good This anime, although not spectacular, was cute enough to keep me interested. The basic premise was fairly ridiculous, but the anime pulled it off fairly well. The main girl was cute enough, and the main guy wasn't too annoying, and all of these culminated in a forgettable, yet entertaing experience.
Mind Game (movie) Very good This movie was weird beyond belief... The animation itself started out of whack, and the story was as psychedelic as it gets. I wasn't sure if I liked it or hated it after watching it... but it's definetly something you have to decide for yourself.
Mobile Suit Gundam 00 (TV) Excellent
Mobile Suit Gundam 00 Second Season (TV) Excellent
Mobile Suit Gundam 00 the Movie: A Wakening of the Trailblazer Good
Mobile Suit Gundam Seed (TV) Excellent Great anime that exemplifies why Gundam time and time again is the king of mecha anime series. The animation is top-notch, coupled with music from some of the heaviest hitters in the industry. The story is classic gundam, with plenty of death and destruction that makes the deathstar look like a childs toy. The battles are fast and furious, and you can't help but love the main character. A must watch for all, fan or no fans of the gundam series.
Mobile Suit Gundam Seed Destiny (TV) Excellent Continuation of Gundam Seed, nothing really new here, just more of the same yummy Gundam Seed formula. Bigger battles, further progression of the Gundam world, and the return of characters we all love. Nothing new here, but not to be missed if you enjoyed the first series.
Mobile Suit Gundam Seed Destiny Final Plus: The Chosen Future (OAV) Excellent Redo of the ending, wraps up the gundam universe fairly well. Same stuff as before, nothing really special here. Watch to attempt to get some closure on the Gundam Seed saga.
Mobile Suit Gundam Seed Destiny Special Edition (OAV) Excellent Re-do of the whole series, pretty much what the Gundam Seed Special Edition was. Only really recommended for major fans of the series if you want to see everything again, or if you want to see a great anime series without wallowing through 52 episodes...
Mobile Suit Gundam Seed Special Edition Excellent Recap of the Gundam Seed series, pretty much what I said about the Seed Destiny Special Edition. Watch if you want to watch the whole series in a shorter timeframe...
Mobile Suit Gundam UC (OAV) Excellent
Mobile Suit Gundam Wing (TV) Excellent This was the quintessinal gundam series for me... and Wing Zero will always be in my mind the best gundam ever (no cheap Strike Freedom or Strike Justice with shield that can block a death stars beam). Music is top-notch, animation is a bit old, but still very watchable, and battles are some of the best around. Lastly, the story is probably the best of the gundam series, with plenty of twists and turns, and most importantly, bigger and stronger gundams. The characters are all memorable, and easily likable. A must watch for gundam fans, and a great watch for even non-gundam fans.
Mobile Suit Gundam Wing: Endless Waltz (OAV) Excellent This brings closure to the Gundam Wing series, with more of the same great batttles and memorable characters from the TV show.
Mobile Suit Gundam Wing: Endless Waltz Special Edition (movie) Excellent Special versin of Endless Waltz, basically combining everything together. I'd watch this over Endless Waltz, but they're the exact same thing. No need to watch if you've seen the OVA already.
Moeyo Ken (TV) Decent Low-budget anime with a subpar story and weak character development. Not worth watching unless you're extremely bored or really really like samurai with cats that can give lives and pretty girls.
Mononoke (TV) Excellent
Monster (TV) Excellent Dark dark dark. This is perhaps the darkest anime I've ever seen (in both animation and story). However, the story is definitely one to be remembered. The plot has so many twists and turns that you can never know where it's going, who will live or die, and what the end result will be. Every episode will leave you craving for more and wondering what this "monster" really is. The atmosphere fits well with the story, and everything comes together to bring a fantastical story vividly into life. A must watch, especially for fans of psychological and dark animes.
Monthly Girls' Nozaki-kun (TV) Very good
Moribito - Guardian of the Spirit (TV) Very good
Moyashimon (TV) Excellent
Moyashimon Returns (TV) Very good
Mushi-Shi (TV) Excellent This anime isin't what I'm usually looking for in an anime, but it had more than enough material in there to keep me coming back for more. The animation is different, but eeringly beautiful at times. The story all tells something about humanity and way we deal with things, known or unknown. And Ginko is a strong main character that is unique and interesting enough to make this an anime to be watched.
My Bride is a Mermaid (TV) Excellent
My Neighbor Totoro (movie) Very good
My-HiME (TV) Very good Curvaceous women with the ability to call fighting robots trying to kill each other off? Doesn't really sound like a unique plot, but it's still fairly well done. The animation is clean, fights are exciting, and you have the standard romance elements thrown in. Other than that, there's nothing that makes this anime stand out from the rest. Watch it if you have time on your hands or like the idea of giant robots beating on each other.
Mythical Detective Loki Ragnarok (TV) Very good Loki is one bad ass kid, he pretty much made this series easily watched, even though the girl is real annoying. But the anime definetly has room for improvement, and theres not much detective business in here...
Nasu: A Migratory Bird with Suitcase (OAV) Very good
Nasu: Summer in Andalusia (movie) Very good This anime might seem to be quite a different pace from most, but I enjoyed this one immensely. The main characters, although not too memorable, are easily likable and fun to watch. The plot may start off fairly slow, but it gets a lot more exciting near the ends. The animation style itself is a bit different from mainstream, but fits well with the environment they're in. All in all, an anime to watch if you want a change in pace, but if you're a mainstream junkie, might want to stay away.
Natsuiro no Sunadokei (OAV) Good Anime based on an H-game, we usually know how these tend to go. The animation is mediocre, and the storyline, although interesting, is a far cry away from the game itself. I would only recommend this if you have any interest in the game itself. Otherwise there's nothing here to make this stand out as an anime.
Natsume's Book of Friends (TV) Very good
Natsume's Book of Friends (TV 2) Excellent
Natsume's Book of Friends (TV 3) Very good
Natsume's Book of Friends (TV 4) Very good
Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind (movie) Excellent Ahhhh... one of the classics. The animation may be old, but the story is definitely an epic. One of the older animes by Studio Ghibli, this one really helped launch them in their career. A mesmerizing world, wonderful characters, and beautiful animation makes this anime rise to the top of the pile. A must see for all ages, with a story that would be sure to touch your heart.
Negima! (TV) Very good Well, made by the same guy as Love Hina, but much much more ridiculous. One 10 year old guy... 30 some odd middle school girls? Even if the plot seems crazy, the anime wasn't really all that bad. Most of the girls don't play much of a role, but the ones that do are all entertaining in their own right. You can also really see Love Hina playing a role in the style here. Recommended if you like Love Hina or other mangas he wrote, otherwise, this may be a bit too much for some people.
Neon Genesis Evangelion (TV) Excellent Ahhh... evangelion... after watching this 3-4 times and reading a ton of material on this, I'm still not sure what the fudge ever happened in the end. The fight scenes are ridiculous awesome, some of the most important girls in anime history are here, and the slick animation with great music sets a new standard for anime. However, the only drawback I have with this anime is that near the end, I still don't know what ever happened... Highly recommended as an anime history making production. If you crave a real ending though, might want to stay away from this.
Neon Genesis Evangelion: Death & Rebirth (movie) Excellent Uh... my issue with the 2 ending eva movies are I still don't know wtf is going on in them, nor what they're actually about. I defer to Wikipedia's superior judgement on these.
Neon Genesis Evangelion: The End of Evangelion (movie) Excellent Uh... my issue with the 2 ending eva movies are I still don't know wtf is going on in them, nor what they're actually about. I defer to Wikipedia's superior judgement on these.
Neuro - Supernatural Detective (TV) Good
New Kimagure Orange Road: Summer's Beginning (movie) Good This is pretty weird... Time travel/alternate universe, but there is a really pretty piano solo in here that makes this movie shine. The story is kind of weak compared to the anime before, but all the characters that we've come to love are in here. Watch to wrap up the whole story.
Nichijou - My Ordinary Life (TV) Decent
Ninja Scroll (TV) Good Ahhh... Ninja Scroll, one of the first anime I've ever seen, and one of the most memorable (since it was also the bloodiest anime in existence). The TV show is different from the movie, but the basic premise is still the same. Jubei, as bad ass as they come, goes around and kills ninjas left and right (well, not really ninjas, more like monsters). Animation is mediocre, and storyline is fairly stupid, but the blood and gore is what makes this anime unique. Nothing really to watch here, unless you want to see some ridiculous fight scenes and blood spattered everywhere...
NITABOH, the Shamisen Master (movie) Very good This anime was full of win. The storytelling was masterful, depicting slices of the main characters life, ignoring some parts, but focusing on the more important parts. The music was great, fit the mood of the story perfectly (story about music, go figure...). And lastly, the production value was perfect, with clean and crisp animation that heightens the whole watching experience. The journey of the main character from kid to musical genius is bound to captivate whoever watches it. Highly recommended.
No Game, No Life (TV) Excellent
Nodame Cantabile (TV) Excellent
Noein - to your other self (TV) Excellent This anime is fairly interesting, with a unique animation style and quite an interesting storyline, if you can understand it. While this anime has some fight scenes, most of this anime is about character development, especially since you have 2 of the same character... O.O Anyways, I like this anime, and everything fit together pretty well, even if some things aren't explained. Others might not like this just for the wtf factor at times.
Noir (TV) Very good Assassin chicas... this anime is also one of the first I've seen, with quite a bit of fond memories attached. The storyline is really interesting, with some pretty intense fights every once in a while. Again however, there is a lot more character development in this anime, namely who each of the assassin's are. Music is good, and animation style is fairly standard. Not bad to watch, but not the most interesting out there either.
Now and Then, Here and There (TV) Very good This anime is probably one of the more screwed up ones out there. Not by art style, or ridiculous story, but because of what the characters go through, and how it tears at our soul. The heart of this anime is in its character development, how screwed up the world is and how to survive in it. What people do when pushed to the edge, and how to fight back against insurmontable odds. I'd recommend this only after watching a real happy anime, otherwise you're likely to rip something apart. But it is definetly worth watching if you're into fairly deep anime.
Oh My Goddess! (OAV) Very good Original Oh My Goddess series. Nothing much really goe on since it's only limited to 5 episodes, but it catches most of the important elements of the Oh My Goddess! universe. Your standard sort of harem anime, except replace girls with omniscent goddesses and you have a very unique anime. Plenty of funny moments, and some fairly serious ones. And yes, there are some fight scenes, while not as great as a fighting anime, still adds some value to this series.
One Outs (TV) Excellent
One Punch Man (TV) Excellent
Oruchuban Ebichu (TV) Decent WTF WTF WTF... Don't watch this unless you like really crude crass humour. But if you do, this anime is perfect for you. It crosses the line every other word, and contains enough nudity to be made into a porno.
Ouran High School Host Club (TV) Excellent Great show beginning to end, never failed to perform. The animation is nice and clear, the comedy was refreshing and fairly unique, and the story wasn't half bad either. Even though this anime doesn't go too in-depth in things it probably should have, it was a strong runner beginning to end. Music fit well, voice acting was spot-on, and I was never bored for a second.
Outlaw Star (TV) Masterpiece One of my favorite anime of all time, and one of the first ones I've ever seen. The animation is a bit dated, but the story was great. The characters were all lovable, and Gene was as badass as they come, even if there are comedic moments. Fight scenes were great, music was good, and the series ended on a great note.
Pale Cocoon (OAV) Good
Paprika (movie) Very good Action, suspense, and an innovating and involving storyline made this movie a great watch. It could get quite confusing at times, and even at the end you're not sure what really happened, but overall it's a top-notch story. Bright animation, great characters, and fitting music makes this anime easy and fun to watch. Highly recommended.
Paradise Kiss (TV) Very good Great production value coupled with great music makes this an enjoyable yet easy watch. However, the storyline, although interesting, can get pretty annoying to some people (It's ultimately a drama... about clothes). Recommended for women.
Paranoia Agent (TV) Very good This anime actually made some sort of sense, even if the story-telling was fairly disjointed. This particular genre of anime isn't my cup of tea, but I still thought it was fun to watch. Plus, the music fit really well with the series, and the animation was well-done, making this an easy watch.
Parasyte -the maxim- (TV) Excellent
Peacemaker (TV) So-so Ugh, I fast-forwarded through the last couple of episodes. This series didn't interest me in a variety of reasons. One, the kid is useless and annoying. and two if I wanted a samurai anime series, I'd watch Kenshin. The animation was nice, and the music added quite a bit to the series, but the storytelling never really engaged me as anything interesting.
Pet Shop of Horrors (TV) Good Small 4 episode OVA based off the manga. Nothing real special here, mediocre anime to support a fairly interesting manga. Watch if you're a fan of the manga, otherwise nothing really to see here.
Phantom - The Animation (OAV) Very good Great short little anime that covers a lot of ground in three episodes. It doesn't try to do much, and just paints a story of the two main characters. Even though not everything comes together perfectly, it still has enough action to make it worth watching. And the romance between the main characters is especially touching. Recommended for everyone.
Phantom ~Requiem for the Phantom~ (TV) Decent
Piano (TV) Good Fairly boring anime of a chick playing piano and trying to learn things about life. The music is okay, could be better for a series revolving around music, and the story was forgettable at best. Watch only if you have nothing else.
(The) Place Promised in Our Early Days (movie) Very good
Planetes (TV) Masterpiece One of the better animes out there, with great animation, great story, and very memorable characters. Even though things got a little wacky near the end, the series ended up great with all ends resolved. The manga was better than the anime story-wise, but both of them are definetly worth seeing.
Platonic Chain (TV) Decent This anime doesn't really discuss anything, nor is memorable in any capacity. There might have been an interesting story, but the execution falls short, not to mention the characters are all fairly boring and stereotypical. There are some humourus moments, but nothing to make this anime worth watching.
Please Teacher! (TV) Good Heh... student falling in love with alien teacher, nothing really interesting or groundbreaking here. Your standard love comedy romance, it delivers what it promises, without offering anything too distasteful either. Animation is clean, comedy is fairly standard, and enough drama to make you feel for the characters but not want to wring their neck.
Please Teacher! (OAV) Good Ahhhh... the OAV to Onegai Teacher... more of the same comedy and drama, with quite a bit more adult spun in. Watch this in order to finish the Onegai Teacher storyline, otherwise no real reason to see this.
Please Twins! (TV) Decent Onegai twins... not as great as onegai teacher, but contains the elements that make its precursor a decent watch. Comedy where needed, and drama to link the watcher in. Decent animation, nice music, everything a regular anime needs. However, there are better anime out there with similar storylines, I would only recommend this if you really enjoyed onegai teacher, or you're really bored.
Please Twins! (OAV) Decent Same as the comment for the onegai teacher OAV. Nothing really new or exciting here, just an end to the story, and yes, more boobies...
Porco Rosso (movie) Very good
Princess Mononoke (movie) Excellent Ahhhh... One of the best known movies out there... The animation was breathtaking, truly a tour de force in animation, music, and voice acting. The story, which doesn't seem to be truly new, has enough twists and turns to ensure you're never going to know what happens last. Most importantly, you can't help but feel for the characters in here, the adversity they face, and how to overcome it. A great watch from beginning to end.
Princess Resurrection (TV) Decent Run of the mill anime with a been there done that storyline. However, decent animation and funny fight scenes is what makes this anime worth watching.
Princess Resurrection (OAV) Decent
Psychic Academy (ONA) Good Even though this anime doesn't go nearly as far as the manga does, it leaves you with a happy feeling (I won't spoil anything about the manga). Animation is medicore, nothing special, and the story wasn't especially unique, but there was enough going on to make this a decent watch. Action was interesting where it counted, girls were pretty, and I'm always a fan of anime in which the main character gets stronger, and noticebly so. Not a bad watch if you're interested in this type of anime.
Puella Magi Madoka Magica (TV) Excellent
Pumpkin Scissors (TV) Very good This anime was destined for greatness, but by cutting out a good part of the storyline and leaving us in the dark with a B.S. ending, it has failed miserably. Randel Oland was really what made this anime great for me (Berserkers are one of my favorites) but he wasn't developed nearly enough. And the storyline was interesting, yet it seemed they cut it off just when it could have got really good. The other supporting characters contributed to the feel instead of taking away. Animation was good, music fit... Sigh... If only they could have finished the darn story.
R.O.D -The TV- Good I didn't like this nearly as much as I liked the OVA, but it was still a good anime. Crisp clear animation, very interesting fight scenes, and a decent storyline full of twists (recommend watching the OVA first). Other than that, I'm never a big fan of anime that only feature women. And the story, although decent, left a bad taste in my mouth... Watch it and you might like it more than I did...
Ragnarok The Animation (TV) Good Ha... after watching this I went back to playing Ragnarok. There's really nothing special about this anime, except it's based off one of the most famous MMORPG's out there. The fight scenes are pretty nice, and animation is decent enough. The storyline is cookie-cutter fantasy storyline however, and the characters are pretty bland. It's an alright watch, probably a lot better if you've ever played the game before.
RahXephon (TV) Excellent I personally really like this "eva rip-off". First, this makes more sense then Eva (which doesn't really say much...) and second, I'm a sucker for love stories, and the one here is actually pretty damn good. The fight scenes are nice, but aren't really what this series is about. The development of the main characters and his relationships really define this series, and it's pulled off perfectly. Combine that with a great soundtrack, great animation, and a fantastic world, you have a winning anime.
RahXephon (OAV) Good Yeah... this one is weird... I kind of just breezed through this... although I really do like Quon, there's not really anything here... reminiscent of the Tachibana OVA's of GITS, but less humorous.
RahXephon: Pluralitas Concentio (movie) Very good This was fairly different from the actual series, but it was still had everything that made RahXephon great. Stunning animation, great soundtrack, and a storyline that rivals evangelion. If you liked RahXephon, you will like this adaptation. If you don't have time for the series, the movie will be a great stand-by also.
Rayearth (OAV) Excellent Even though I thought this anime was for kids, it turned out to be much better than I thought possible. The storyline is classic CLAMP, with their signature storyline and artwork. The main characters are memorable, but what really made this for me was the story. The main villan was much more than he seemed, and the plot twist really made this anime into one I will remember.
Read or Die (OAV) Very good I thought this was better than the main series, especially since it wasn't as confusing nor as angsty. Animation was decent, and storyline was enough to keep me hooked on the whole time. If you want to dive into read or die, I would definitely recommend this over the series.
Record of Lodoss War (OAV) Very good The OAV for Lodoss War, I actually thought this was a bit better than the series. The same characters are in here, but I liked them more in this series. I'd recommend this if you liked the original series, otherwise nothing really to see here.
Record of Lodoss War: Chronicles of the Heroic Knight (TV) Good This was another one of the first anime's I've seen, and I've always remembered this one. I never cared for the main characters, but I really bonded with Orson, who I think was the most badass of them all. Not a pansy like Parn is. Anyways, animation is dated, but still watchable. And the music really fit the mood of the series. I'd recommend this for anyone who wants a nice fantasy setting with lots of bloodshed and romance.
ReLIFE (TV) Excellent
ReLIFE: Final Arc (OAV) Excellent
Rozen Maiden (TV) Very good An anime about dolls, which is surprisingly much better than it sounds (because they're freaking fighting dolls)! The romance arc is f'ed up (seriously, human and doll), but the main characters still fit well together. Animation was top-notch, and music was great. Highly recommended.
Rozen Maiden: Ouvertüre (special) Good
Rozen Maiden: Träumend (TV) Very good Same as the first season, nothing especially different here. Watch if you liked the first season, otherwise just pass.
Rumbling Hearts (TV) Excellent Ahhhh... we meet again. This anime is the one that has brought up the most conflicting emotions within me. Anime novices should not watch this, and experts should face this one with caution. The storyline is beyond intense (Not as bad as Now and Then, Here and There, but still pretty involved emotionally), with plenty of drama going on every other second. I'm still conflicted on how good I thought this anime was, but I heard the game is even worse (or better, however you want to look at it). Regardless, go into this expecting all your rosy visions of anime to be shattered...
Rumiko Takahashi Anthology (TV) Very good Even though I'm usually not a fan of slice of life anime's, this one was surprisingly good. The strength is the storytelling of each story, how we can bond with each character in the short amount of time we actually see them. The art isn't spectacular, and the music is lacking, but the subtle (and not so subtle) comedy of the series more than makes up for it.
Rurouni Kenshin (TV 1996) Masterpiece Not as good as the OVA, but still one of the best anime's ever. EVAR! The first and second season follow the manga pretty well, throwing you into the Kenshin universe and having you crave more. There is probably no anime character as well known as Kenshin, nor as loved. His spirit, skill, and personality is what defines this series. The additional characters aren't too shabby at all, with each of them more memorable and respectable than the other. The animation is decent, and soundtrack is good, but like I said, what really defines this series is Kenshin himself. A must watch for everyone, anime fans or not.
Rurouni Kenshin: Reflection (OAV) Very good The ending of Kenshin... Sigh... I'm torn about this one. Anyone who's a fan of Kenshin (everyone and their mom) has to watch this because it's the conclusion to the story of Kenshin. BUT BUT BUT... It's the end of what is easily known as the BEST series of all time, of the MOST memorable character in anime... You might not ever want it to end... The animation is different than what you're used to, softer, but better suited for the mood of the OAV. I can't really recommend or not recommend it... you have to be look inside and see whether you want to see the end, or let the dream keep going.
Rurouni Kenshin: The Motion Picture Very good Mediocre movie based off Kenshin. Not the best adaptation of Kenshin, but better than season 3 of the series anyways. Recommended for fans of Kenshin, but nothing really special here.
Rurouni Kenshin: Trust & Betrayal (OAV) Masterpiece There really isn't anything for me to say that hasn't been said. The best anime in the world. Period. Words can't describe how great this anime is, how it touches your soul with it's soft words and harsh actions. The only thing to do is watch it. And then immediatly rewatch it. Like all great masterpieces, no matter how many times you see it, it never really seems to end. The people live on forever in your memories and in your mind.
S-CRY-ed (TV) Good This was a decent fighting anime, with plenty of action and some plot twists. However, there is a been there done that feel (futuristic fighters with superpowers?) and the storyline isn't particularly amazing. The animation is mediocre, and music was good. But overall, this anime can get lost in the middle of the pack.
SaiKano (live-action movie) Decent
SaiKano: Another Love Song (OAV) Good OAV for Saikano, provides additional backstory and more heartache. I'd recommend this if you liked the main series, since it ties in fairly well and follows what the main anime is good at... screwing with your emotions.
Saiyuki (TV) Decent Journey to the West, Japanese style. Even though I prefer the original chinese story, this wasn't too bad at all. The animation is mediocre, but hey, it's about the monkey king. Wouldn't really recommend this to anyone, unless they like Journey to the west as much as I do...
Saiyuki Gunlock (TV) Good Continuation of Saiyuki, nothing really changes here.
Saiyuki Reload (TV) Good More Saiyuki, watch if you liked the original series, otherwise nothing to see here.
Samurai 7 (TV) Very good An anime based off of one of the best movies of all times? Count me in. Animation was great, characters were bright and colorful, and the adaptation was faithful till the end (except with giant robots...). Recommended for all viewers.
Samurai Champloo (TV) Very good A little too silly at times, and I never really liked the main characters that much either... Mugen was too silly for my taste, and Fuu was just weird. Jin was the only one that made this anime worthwhile... Well, there are some great spots such as playing baseball with Americans... but other than that, I wasn't a big fan of this.
Samurai Deeper Kyo (TV) Very good One of the better anime's out there, Kyo has plenty of kick-ass powers and great companions, each one more interesting than the last. The fight scenes are great, the music is engaging, and the comedy adds enough spice to make an excellent dish. Highly recommended.
Sayonara Zetsubou-sensei (TV) Excellent
School Rumble (TV) Masterpiece Ahhhh... School Rumble... One of the funniest anime ever made. The whole premise seems simple, but throw in 2 brain dead main characters and it becomes a comedy of errors. The animation is crisp and clear, characters more than lovable, with a great music soundtrack to boot. Not to mention the actual romance is fairly sweet (what little of it that isn't mocked by the comedy). This is slapstick comedy at its beest.
School Rumble Sangakki (OAV) Very good I'm not sure if I rated this OAV lower due to the fact that I didn't like the ending, or it just wasn't as good as the rest. The comedy is in there, but not as much as before... animation is still top notch though. The ending however... seemed to sort of fizzle out instead of ending with a bang...
School Rumble: 2nd Semester (TV) Masterpiece Continuation of school rumble. More of the same good ol stuff. The storyline continues, yet doesn't really conclude either.
School Rumble: Extra Class (OAV) Masterpiece OAV of school rumble. Watch it if you like the series.
Scrapped Princess (TV) Excellent This anime had everything. Great fight scenes, great music, wonderful animation, and a captivating storyline. This anime started out full of action from the first episode, and kept me interested all the way until the end. Recommended for everybody.
Serial Experiments Lain (TV) Very good This anime was way too weird for me... too much symbology. It was an interesting concept of how technology and the net interacts with the real world... but still... recommended only if you like weird stuff.
Seto no Hanayome (OAV) Very good
Sexy Voice and Robo (live-action TV) Very good Decent Japanese Drama... contains memorable characters, plenty of moments that will make you laugh, and some that will bring tears to your eyes (nothing that will make me cry though). The story isn't really cohesive, it's more or less sperate episodes the whole way through. And there isn't much romance, so that might turn away some others. But it's a strong live action overall with plenty of scenes that will stay with you.

Shakugan no Shana-tan Returns (OAV) Good
Shaman King (TV 2001) Good I first remembered watching this on TV, and it seemed like a bad-ass series. Superpowerful spirits beating the living crap out of each other, with plenty of comedy thrown in. The characters were all interesting, and the fight scenes were well-done. The story was fairly typical, but still a good watch.
She, The Ultimate Weapon (TV) Very good This anime is another one that I need to warn y'all about. Nothing good will come from watching this anime. The music is great, the animation is spectacular, and the storyline is more than enough to get you hooked in. But y'all are bound to get hurt... especially with all the death and destruction going on in here. The characters are fairly annoying at times, but when they're not at each others throats, it can be real sweet and heartwarming, especially some of the secondary characters. Overall, it's a good anime to watch if you're into dark and depressing. Not recommended for Mrs. Sunshine.
Silver Spoon (TV) Very good
Silver Spoon (TV 2) Excellent
Sister Princess (TV) Good Standard harem anime... although on a way more subpar level. Too many characters to develop, so a few were emphasized while others were only touched upon... which they should have just cut out anyways. Not much going on... more a slice of life than anything... the comedy, art, and music was all mediocre.
Sister Princess: Re Pure (TV) Good Continuation of Sister Princess with an attempt to have more character development... but still comes off quite a bit lacking.
Skip Beat! (TV) Very good
(The) Slayers (TV) Very good Lina Inverse! I actually like Zelgaidis a lot more than Lina, but the whole series is a great blend of comedy and action. Highly recommended as a fantasty anime, on par with Record of Lodoss War
Slayers - The Motion Picture Very good More of the same slayer goodness
Slayers Excellent (OAV) Very good More of the same slayer goodness
Slayers Gorgeous (movie) Very good More of the same slayer goodness
Slayers Great (movie) Very good More of the same Slayer goodness

Slayers Premium (movie) Very good More Slayers...
Slayers Return (movie) Very good Slayers Slayers and Slayers
(The) Slayers Try (TV) Very good Even more Slayers, and the same great action as always.
Slayers: The Book of Spells (OAV) Very good Slayers just does not end.
Slow Step (OAV) Good
Someday's Dreamers (TV) Good The manga was better than the tv show, but the main character is still interesting enough to make this series worth watching. Life lessons to be learned coupled with plenty of humour and memorable characters...
Soul Hunter (TV) Decent The manga is one of the best manga's I've ever read... sadly the anime doesn't go all the way. But it's still a decent adaptation, containing all the quirks and interests that make the manga great.

Tohai Densetu Akagi -Yamini Maiorita Tensai- (TV) Very good Mah-jongg anime, what more to say. Watch if you like Mah-Jongg, or just want something different. Otherwise nothing really special here.
Tokyo Babylon (OAV) Decent Decent little OAV by Clamp. I watched this after X, so I had some expectations going in, but Sumeragi really played his part and made this OAV enjoyable. Story wasn't well developed, however, it works perfectly as a backstory to one of the better characters in X.
Tokyo Babylon 2 (OAV) So-so If you liked the first OAV, you should like this one, there is not much difference.
Tokyo Godfathers (movie) Good
Tokyo Magnitude 8.0 (TV) Good
Tokyo Underground (TV) Good This show didn't really stand out. Boy meets girl, boy achieves power, boy defeats bad guys... seems like it's been done before many times (and it has). Still, decent animation, music, and fairly well-done fight scenes doesn't make this anime a total loss.
Toradora! (TV) Excellent Whoo, this anime is a real ride. The whole comedy aspect of the anime was hilarious, but the drama became really touching also. I could really feel the emotions from both the visuals and the voicing, and the only complaint I had was that this series ended too soon. But overall, if you enjoy a great romance anime, than this is the one for you.
Touch (TV) Masterpiece Classic Adachi, with a bit more tragedy than his other works. The anime is long, but there are enough going on that you can't wait for the next episode. Animation is also classic Adachi, and the music is a bit dated, but still works well. Most importantly, the characters have the driver and wit that makes this anime and Adachi's works great.
Touch (live-action movie) Very good This differs a bit from the anime, which is fairly obvious since ones over 100 episodes and this is only 2 hours. However, all the important events are covered, and the acting of the characters is more than passable. I don't think this is as well done as H2, but it's still great in its own right, able to bring out emotions with the viewers. I would recommend this is you're a fan of Adachi or especially liked Touch.
Touch: Cross Road - Kaze no Yukue (special) Very good A continuation of Touch, not as good as the series itself, but still has plenty of memorable moments.
Touch: Sebangō no Nai Ace (movie) Very good Another continuation, but I think they're just trying to milk the story for what its worth. The animation is better, differing a bit from classic Adachi, but still watchable. The characters are still pretty much the same, and they don't kill it too badly. But you can get by without watching this and not miss anything.
Toward the Terra (TV) Excellent
Trigun (TV) Excellent
Trinity Blood (TV) Very good Great story, great animation, great fights, and above all... VAMPIRES. This anime has it all... with plenty of mystery, suspense, and non-stop killing. Vampires in here are actually decently lovable... don't want to spoil too much. Characters are all bad-ass in their own ways with more and more ridiculous powers. And the musical score adds plenty of oomph. Recommended for most people.
(The) Twelve Kingdoms (TV) Excellent
Utawarerumono (TV) Excellent EPIC... this could go on forever and I'd watch it non-stop. This has everything I look for in an anime. A bad-ass main character with a mysterious past, an amazing supporting cast of characters, and plenty of action. Haven't played the game yet but I expect nothing from the best from it. Highly recommended for all.

Wind: A Breath of Heart (OAV) Good
Wind: A Breath of Heart (TV) Good A fairly unforgettable harem anime... based off a game that I've been meaning to play... shrug... The animation is mediocre at best, and the anime doesn't have a high production value. There are some times when you'll be mildly intrigued by whats going on in the series, but overall, very forgettable.
Witch Hunter Robin (TV) Decent Great animation coupled with an interesting storyline makes this an anime worth watching. However, the story kind of gets weird at the end, without a real ending making this an annoying anime at the same time. If you can get past not knowing what happens to all the characters, give this a shot, otherwise, you're not missing anything too interesting.
Wolf's Rain (TV) Worst ever I HATE THIS ANIME! DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE. THIS IS THE MOST BORING POS I'VE EVER SEEN, AND I'VE SEEN PLENTY OF ANIME. AVOID THIS AT ALL COSTS... UNLESS YOU WANT TO BLEED FROM YOUR EYES AND EARS. I HATE WOLF'S RAIN! UTTERLY UTTERLY HATE IT!
Wolf's Rain (OAV) Worst ever I HATE THIS ANIME!
X (TV) Good This is one of the more depressing anime series that Clamp made, with plenty of death and destruction. Characters you like will get brutally slaughtered in front of you, making you wish you had the ability to rewrite the story. Other than that though, great music, great animation (it's Clamp), and a great story coupled with fantastic fight scenes makes this an anime that will go down in memory
X OAV Very good Little episode before X TV... I recommend watching this near the end of the TV series just because watching this in the beginning will only make you even more confused about the whole X universe (which is beyond confusing enough).

Yakitate!! Japan (TV) Excellent This anime is one of the funniest ones I've ever seen. Every time the main character makes a new bread, you can't help but laugh and be amazed at the ways he pulls it off. The animation is top-notch, with a unique story and great musical soundtrack. A must watch for all anime lovers out there, and is good enough to bring non-anime lovers into the fold.
Yokohama Kaidashi Kikou (OAV) Very good Slow peaceful anime with a distinctful animation style and beautiful music. This is definetly a different pace from most anime series out there, and people would either love it or hate it. Based on one of the best manga series of all times, this anime will be sure to bring some peace into an otherwise hectic life, an oasis in the middle of the desert...
Yokohama Kaidashi Kikou: Quiet Country Cafe (OAV) Very good
Yomigaeru Sora - RESCUE WINGS (TV) Very good A slice of life anime with some interesting moments, but ultimately unforgettable. There are some times you'll feel sad or happy for the main character, and most of the stories pass by fairly quickly, but doesn't leave much of an impression on you. An interesting anime to watch to pass the time or if you're bored by the standard genres, but thats about it.
