Hayate the Combat Butler (TV) Very good (Stalled) I love the contrast between Kugimiya's role with her previous roles as Shana and Louise. You'd expect her to be furious about some of the situations Hayate is caught in, but she's perfectly understanding. Great comedy, I love the self-awareness as an anime, and good directing and pacing overall. As far as comedies go, it's already a classic.

Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha StrikerS (TV) Decent (Stalled) First episode kicked butt, but then it became ridiculously slow and pointless for several episodes, to the point where I almost gave up on the series. Episode 7 gave the series a bit more direction and it improved somewhat from there, but by then I had lost most of my interest. I'll try to get back to it someday.

Mushi-Shi (TV) Masterpiece (Stalled) Probably the most beautifully produced series I've seen. Every episode is a new setting and story, all involving these weird pseudo-supernatural bacteria-like creatures called mushi. The show is really about the people, exploring how they are affected by the various hardships induced by the mushi, as well as the "science" of the mushi themselves, which is quite coherent and logical. ANN doesn't call it a slice of life series, but I would.

5 Centimeters Per Second (movie) Very good Incredible artwork, great directing, but rather scarce plot. There wasn't enough time to get emotionally involved in any of the characters, and it just felt like "That's it?" in the end.
A-Channel (TV)
Abnormal Physiology Seminar (OAV)
Agent Aika (OAV) So-so Panties. Chick fights. Panties. I think they briefly introduced some sort of bad-guy-trying-to-blow-up-the-world plot. And oh yeah, panties. A worm's-eye-view into a battle of miniskirt-clad girls versus... miniskirt-clad girls. Really, if you're expecting anything more than what I've described, you're out of luck. Panties.
Ah! My Goddess (TV) So-so From the episodes I've seen, there wasn't that much humor, the characters weren't very deep, the relationship wasn't developing in any interesting way, and it seemed to drag out.
Ai Yori Aoshi (TV) Good I call this show "warm fuzzies". Some average joe finds out he's engaged to marry a perfectly-behaved, perfectly-devoted, sweet, gentle, self-conscious, and rather naive girl trained to be a perfect traditional Japanese wife. Throw in a stereotypical drunken American girl, a stereotypical glasses-wearing klutzy girl, a stereotypical responsible caretaker woman with Aoi's best interest in mind and the guy left in the shack out back, and a stereotypical hyper loli, and you get some variety between the inevitable "I l- l- love *blush* you" "*blush*" "*blush*"
Ai Yori Aoshi ~Enishi~ (TV) Good Pretty much the same sort of stuff you got in season 1, although maybe a touch more fanservice.
AIKa R-16: Virgin Mission (OAV) So-so
AIKa ZERO (OAV)
Air (TV) Good Tip: Don't get attached to any of the characters. If a girl exists in this series, there's a good chance she won't live long. Don't watch episode 6 if you have any history of depression or are easily affected by fictional drama. This show is full of self-centered people making stupid decisions without any regard to the rest of the characters, and no one walks away happy. Most don't walk away. The creators started taking shrooms around the crow and ancient flashback scenes, and that's about when you lose all hope that anything good will come out of this series. And alas, nothing good does. They're all idiots and I hate them all. Great artwork and huge emotional impact, though.
Aishiteruze Baby (TV) Very good Quite cute and touching. Some aspects weren't entirely realistic (some of the little kids acted a bit too grown-up in certain parts), but it was nothing too distracting.
Akane Iro ni Somaru Saka (TV) Decent
Akikan! (TV) Good
Akikan! (OAV)
All Purpose Cultural Cat Girl Nuku Nuku (TV) Weak Wow, was this a waste of time. Given the concept, I thought it would at least have good comedy or decent fanservice or something. They didn't really follow through on the fact that her brain was that of a cat's (other than her affinity for fish and inability to swim, which was primarily due to her weight as a robot).
Arcade Gamer Fubuki (TV)
Astarotte's Toy (TV)
Azumanga Daioh (TV) Excellent Who doesn't love Azumanga Daioh? This is one of the definitive series of the anime comedy genre. It successfully mixes hyperactivity with lovable characters and well-placed humor. Lots of WTF humor, too.
Azumanga Web Daioh (ONA) Weak This mostly just recycles jokes from the original Azumanga Daioh with a different art style (not fitting of the show, if you ask me).
B Gata H Kei - Yamada’s First Time (TV) Good
Baby Princess 3D Paradise 0 [Love] (OAV)
Baka and Test - Summon the Beasts (TV) Good
Binbō Shimai Monogatari (TV) Decent (Stalled) The little "tips" at the commercial breaks are the best parts of the show. Unfortunately, for a show that's trying really hard to be a true slice-of-life series, a lot of it is just too artificial and sometimes even corny.
Bludgeoning Angel Dokuro-chan (TV) Not really good Blood, gore, slapstick (splatstick?), panties, diarrhea, monkeys, dogs, and apparently an upcoming sequel. Make of it what you may.
Boku wa Imōto ni Koi o Suru: Secret Sweethearts - Kono Koi wa Himitsu (OAV) Not really good
Bokura ga Ita (TV) Very good Beautiful series, true to human emotion (although the characters seem driven by very little beyond raw emotion).
Bokusatsu Tenshi Dokuro-chan Second (OAV) Decent (Stalled) Why is her hair teal now? It used to be lilac.
Bottle Fairy (TV) Weak Kid's show.
Boys Be... (TV) Good
Boys Over Flowers (TV) Very good
BPS - Battle Programmer Shirase (TV) Not really good
Candy Boy (ONA) Decent
Canvas 2 - Niji Iro no Sketch (TV) Decent It was okay, but the ending was stupid. I recommend you stop watching before the final episode and just pretend it has a realistic ending. I mean, I liked the girl that he picked (the girl herself, not necessarily that he picked her), but dude, things don't happen that way.
Chobits (TV) Good
Chu-Bra!! (TV)
Clannad (TV) Good KyoAni's third Key series, and it seems to be the most lively one so far. Hopefully all my favorite characters don't die sad, painful deaths in this one. The theme is Spring, so I think we can expect happier endings.
Cosplay Complex (OAV) Not really good Do you want the Hand Maid May fanservice without the burden of anything remotely resembling a plot? Then you might like this.
DearS (TV) Decent
(The) Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya (movie) Masterpiece
ef: a tale of memories (TV) Excellent Very odd yet beautiful series. The show alternates focus between two stories: a fairly typical school romance drama (love triangles and whatnot), and a girl who was in an accident a few years ago and is now trying to live with a condition that limits her retention of new memories to only 13 hours. The stories are linked only by the fact that the girl in the latter is the twin of a girl in the former, although their personalities are nearly opposite. I liked the way both stories ended.
Eiken (OAV) Not really good What do you get when you try to cram planet-sized breasts, countless sexual innuendos, and an overall unrealistic setting into two episodes? I'm not quite sure, but it's called Eiken.
Elf ban Kakyūsei (OAV) Decent
Elfen Lied (TV) Decent Dark, bloody, and sad in parts. If watching a nice girl get her arms and legs sliced off by someone you thought was a nice girl sounds like a good time, enjoy. Cuteness, gore, innocence, ruthless murder, fanservice, pant-wetting, playful comedy, and action. The girl does, after all, have split personalities.
Excel Saga (TV) Good Hyper self-indulgent comedy. First episode is great. Some of the material is repetitive. The final "going too far" episode is great.
(The) Familiar of Zero (TV) Excellent You can't not love Louise. She's a cute and proud tsundere whose abysmal spell-casting ability and apparent lack of any other talent earn her the nickname "Zero Louise". The fact that she's obviously self-conscious about her ineptitude and tries to hide it with a mask of pride makes her that much more lovable. Her relationship with Saito is full of mixed feelings on both sides, and they both try hard to hide any positive feelings toward one another, even though they really learn to admire and appreciate each other throughout the series. There isn't much about this show I didn't love. Great humor, good mix of romance, good action, and... Louise!
(The) Familiar of Zero: Knight of the Twin Moons (TV) Good The first episode was very sub-par, but it got back into the ZnT groove after that. They succeeded in making it feel like just another season of the same series, as if there were no gap in between.
(The) Familiar of Zero: Rondo of Princesses (TV) Good
Final Approach (TV) So-so
Final Examination Kujira (ONA)
Final Fantasy: Legend of the Crystals (OAV) So-so Certainly more closely related to the game than that awful The Spirits Within movie. You might want to play FF5 before watching this, although it isn't too big of a deal. This show was entertaining, but nothing spectacular.
FLCL (OAV) Decent Manic and random. Parts were funny, parts were just weird. All in all, I didn't think it was that good.
Fortune Arterial: Akai Yakusoku (TV) Good
Fruits Basket (TV 1/2001) Excellent I don't know why, but I really love this series. The directing is superb, and so much about this series is "just right". The ending was perfect, all things considered. The crazy woman was downright annoying and I hope she dies in a fire. I watched the English dub, and it contained some of the best English voice acting I've seen in an anime (particularly the voice of Tohru). I loved this series, and my six-year-old sister loved this series.
Full Metal Panic! (TV)
Full Metal Panic! The Second Raid (TV)
Full Metal Panic? Fumoffu (TV) Excellent I hated the original Full Metal Panic. I don't care for mecha anime. But this was a love comedy, much to Sousuke's dismay, and the humor was brilliantly executed.
Fullmetal Alchemist (TV) Masterpiece A really unique and enthralling series, brilliantly crafted. Despite its length, the episodes continue to feel like each one has a purpose throughout the whole series, and everything comes together at just the right pace, with the movie finishing in a perfect little package. I generally don't care for shows with a lot of action, but this one had just the right mix of all elements. There was some really disturbing stuff (when I realized what the guy had done to his daughter, chills ran down my spine), and some interesting commentary on life and relationships. Whatever a "soul" is in this series, I'm convinced that the Homunculus had souls and that Ed and his mother were both somewhat mistaken. Winry survived the series and never cut her hair short or anything, so I'm happy.
Fullmetal Alchemist: The Movie - Conqueror of Shamballa Masterpiece Great conclusion to the series. I felt there was something missing at the end of the original series when it ended until I realized there was a movie too, and the ending of the movie felt right.
Futakoi (TV) Decent Cute girls. Of course everyone is in love with the nerd. The ending SUCKS because they go through this endless talk about how in the end you'll have to choose just one of the girls, but in the end, HE DOESN'T CHOOSE ANYONE! He's still playing the whole field at the very end.
Genshiken (TV) Good
Genshiken (OAV) Decent
Ginban Kaleidoscope (TV) Good
(The) Girl Who Leapt Through Time (movie) Good
Girls Bravo (TV) Not really good
Golden Boy (OAV) So-so
Green Green (TV) So-so
Green Green (OAV) So-so
GTO: Great Teacher Onizuka (TV) Excellent I love this type of series. It's all about character relationships and solving problems. A lot of it's pretty corny and out of touch with reality, but hey, it's anime. I don't get why he ends up actually going to the U.S. at the end, but meh, there was nothing left to solve. The blonde girl was awesome. I wish I knew what the secret was with her dad, because it's a bit weird that she'd be *that* affected by the secret leaking out.
Guardian Hearts (OAV) Decent
Guardian Hearts Power Up! (OAV) Decent
H2O ~Footprints in the Sand~ (TV) So-so Some aspects of the story had potential, but I thought it was very poorly executed. The revelation in the final episode could have made a huge impact, but instead they rushed it and then finished off the show with a cop-out ending. The good points of the series were spoiled by corniness, too much filler, rushed plot development, and overall poor delivery. It tried to be both a light-hearted harem comedy and a serious drama, and it didn't quite succeed at either.
Hanamaru Kindergarten (TV) Decent
Hand Maid May (TV) Decent
Happy World! (OAV) Decent
Hatsukoi Limited (TV) Very good
Heaven's Lost Property (TV) Good
Heaven's Lost Property Forte (TV) Good
His and Her Circumstances (TV) Very good Great mix of drama/romance and goofy comedy. Unfortunately, they ended the series just as the plot was getting interesting, leaving everything unresolved without any real climax. It was as if they had planned another season and then ditched it at the last moment.
Honey x Honey Drops (OAV) Not really good
Howl's Moving Castle (movie) So-so Um.... what just happened? Really, I didn't follow any of it. At no point in this show did I feel like there was any purpose to what they were doing, any sort of real conflict, anything interesting at all. Sorry, but the great art isn't enough to hide the fact that there was no significant plot or message to the show. Be happy and you'll be younger? Yawn.
I''s (OAV) So-so
I''s Pure (OAV) Good Another fun little romance, with a few twisted bits to it. The ending was a bit corny, though.
Ichigeki Sacchu!! HoiHoi-san (special)
Ichigo 100% (TV) Decent He picks the wrong girl. It happens in the manga way after the anime ends, but well... the girl he picks for the part at the end of the anime.. that's the one he ends up having a relationship with. The lame pretty-much-absent-the-whole-series one. The least deserving one of the bunch.
If I See You in My Dreams (OAV) Decent
If I See You in My Dreams (TV) Decent
Iketeru Futari (TV) Decent
Ikki Tousen (TV) Decent For a show that, at first glance, seems to be largely fanservice-oriented, it actually wasn't that bad. There's actually a good amount of character development and plot. Still, I was never much into martial arts anime.
Ikki Tousen: Dragon Destiny (TV) Decent
Ikki Tousen: Great Guardians (TV)
Ikki Tousen: Xtreme Xecutor (TV)
Indian Summer (OAV) Not really good Please tell me something original will happen eventually.
Inukami! (TV) Good
Inukami! (movie) Good More like a bonus episode than a "movie". It's the length of a normal episode and plays out like a typical episode from the series.
Ippatsu Kiki Musume (TV) Good
Isshoni Sleeping: Sleeping with Hinako (OAV)
Itsudatte My Santa! (OAV) So-so
Jikū Bōken Nūmamonjaa (OAV) Weak I was expecting a Chrono Trigger anime. All I got was a nu. This is nothing more than a little sideshow, so don't get your hopes up.
Juden Chan (TV)
Jungle de Ikou! (OAV) Weak I think the show was good at using visuals to convey an aura of raw primal sexuality. That's about the only non-terrible point I can make about it.
Kamisama Kazoku (TV) Good If you've seen Karin, this is pretty much the same show, except it focuses on a family of gods instead of vampires. But it progresses in a similar way and has a similar conclusion. If you liked one, you'll like the other.
Kämpfer (TV) Good
Kanamemo (TV) Good
Kannagi: Crazy Shrine Maidens (TV) Very good
Kanokon: The Girl Who Cried Fox (TV) Good Kind of a blah ending. The last episode was entirely predictable and more fitting of a middle-of-the-series episode. And Kota is still a wimpy loser. This show is borderline hentai, without the nudity, and with a good amount of classic harem comedy and some action.
Kanon (TV 2/2006) Excellent Beautiful art. Lots of touching moments. Spoilers: My favorite girl was the only one who died. That really sucked. And they drew it out, giving you moments of false hope during the painfully gradual decline, and I shed some burly man-tears. Ayu was looking great toward the end until she wandered off and got a freaking boy's haircut.
Karin (TV) Good Meet Karin, the anti-vampire, born into a family of respectable and proud vampires. She can be out during the day, hates the dark, and her body produces a surplus of blood she has to dispose of. Throw her into a school setting, add some romance, and toss in a vampire hunter with a crush on her and ignorance of her vampire status, and you get a hilarity-ensuable bundle of whee. Although it was cheesy in parts, it was quite fun overall.
Kasimasi - Girl Meets Girl (TV) Good I don't know why I liked this as much as I did. The conflict with the added sympathy element toward the girl with the condition just sort of worked. The premise was lame and the aliens were lame, but I enjoyed the human relationship part of the show, even if the main (girl/guy) sort of sat in the background the whole time. He/she didn't pick the girl I would've picked, but at least neither of the girls were losers.
Keitai Shoujo (ONA) So-so
Kemeko Deluxe! (TV) Good
Kenko Zenrakei Suieibu Umisho (TV) Decent A bit of fanservice and a bit of comedy. Nothing really special.
Kimi ga Aruji de Shitsuji ga Ore de (TV) Good Note: This series is not Hayate no Gotoku. You can tell by the incest and some of the pixels.
Kimi ni Todoke - From Me to You (TV) Very good
Kimi ni Todoke 2nd Season (TV) Excellent
Kimikiss pure rouge (TV) Excellent This show was fantastic. This is one of those rare ones where I actually like all of the girls and would be happy with any of them "winning". Futami-san (a.k.a. "the ice queen") is probably the only one I personally wouldn't have chosen, but it would be a close contest with the other three. They're all good people, and there actually wasn't that much backstabbing compared to similar shows.
Kirameki Project (OAV) Not really good
Kiss×sis (TV)
Kodomo no Jikan (TV) Good (Stalled)
Koi Kaze (TV) Decent One of the most important things about telling this kind of story is you must make the relationship convincing. I could buy into the guy falling for the girl at the carnival before he knew they were siblings, but the girl falling for the guy later just wasn't believable to me. She basically thought of him as a brother in one scene and then confessed to him in the next. Sorry, but the delivery of that important aspect of the story just didn't work for me.
Koi Koi Seven (TV) So-so
Kujibiki Unbalance (OAV)
Kyo no Gononi (OAV) Good
Labyrinth of Flames (OAV) Not really good From the guys who brought you Agent Aika, here's... more chick fights and panty shots. At least it has a bit more originality than Agent Aika.
Legend of Lemnear (OAV)
Little Nemo - Adventures in Slumberland (movie) So-so
Living for the Day After Tomorrow (TV) Excellent Oh, I love this show. The premise sounds a bit cliche, what with the whole "adult woman and young girl switching ages" thing, but this show is really unique in its beauty and raw emotions. It's a very heartwarming series, and I promise that the ending doesn't suck.
Looking Up At The Half-Moon (TV) Good
Love Hina (TV) Good The definitive harem anime. It even takes place at a hot springs. What more can you ask for? I enjoyed it.
Love Hina Again (OAV) Good
Love Love? (TV) Decent
Lovely Complex (TV) Good Started off kind of blah, but it got better as it progressed.
Lucky Star (TV) Decent Mildly funny. I like it because they do the same kinds of pointlessly in-depth discussions of mundane things that I tend to do, so I can definitely relate. Big improvement after episode 4 when they changed directors.
Lucky Star OVA Very good
Lunar Legend Tsukihime (TV) Good
Macross Plus (OAV) Excellent Well-produced, great music (which is important for a show largely centered around an artificial intelligence system designed to be a singer), great mecha action (although I'm not personally a fan of mecha stuff), and good character development. The show definitely succeeded at what it was shooting for.
Magic User's Club! (OAV) Good
Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha (TV) Very good Starts off slow and awkward, looking like yet another stereotypical magical girl anime, but after a few episodes it really starts to break the mold and launch into something really awesome and different. This isn't a kid's show.
Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha A's (TV) Excellent The awesomeness factor of this series blasts ahead as a bunch of great new characters are introduced with a much more interesting plot than the previous season. Character relationships worked great, and this series kept me interested all the way through.
Magical Witch Punie-chan (OAV) Decent One of my favorite opening sequences. This show is basically the same concept as Club-to-Death Angel Dokuro-chan (and was made by the same people).
Magikano (TV) Decent The ending sucked.
Mahoraba ~Heartful days~ (TV) Decent Meh. Some parts were cute. Character development wasn't there at all, despite their attempts to portray it. This show was just the result of someone thinking, "What if I can throw in all the stereotypical anime girl personalities into a single character?"
Mahoromatic - Automatic Maiden (TV) Good A maid robot show that isn't just mindless fanservice. Let me repeat: isn't *just* mindless fanservice. The first time I saw it, I remember thinking, "OMG, they allow nudity of girls this young?" Oh how innocent I was. It's interesting that they managed to make her a loli figure and a motherly figure at the same time. But seriously, it isn't just mindless fanservice!
Mahoromatic: Something More Beautiful (TV) Good Same sort of stuff as in season 1.

(The) Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya (TV) Masterpiece This show was absolutely brilliantly produced. There is so much attention to detail, I can watch it all the way through numerous times and still pick up new things. Just hearing a summary of the plot doesn't do the show justice, since the core plot is, in fact, rather lame. It's the characters and how the show is presented that makes it so great. The entire series is presented deliberately out-of-order, and it somehow works wonderfully. The series is chock full of creative genius, great directing, and top-quality artwork and animation, along with a perfect amount of humor and action. Easily Kyoto Animation's best work to date. I can't wait for the sequel.
Mezzo Forte (OAV) So-so
Midori Days (TV) Very good A tough but kind guy who has always wanted a nice girlfriend suddenly meets the shy girl who has always secretly liked him. There's just one problem: she has somehow become his right hand. Instead of a hand, he has a girl there. Yeah, he freaks out a bit. This show is nice and cute, and touching in moments. It seemed to end too quickly for me.
Minami-ke (TV) Very good Golden. Lovable characters, great slice-of-life comedy, and good pacing and directing. One of the best comedies of the last few years.
Minami-ke: Okaeri (TV) Good
Minami-ke: Okawari (TV) Good I definitely liked the first season better, but this was still good.

My Bride is a Mermaid (TV) Decent
My Neighbor Totoro (movie) Excellent Great kid's show. I heard some parents were upset by the fact that, yes, when little girls play around and do cartwheels, their skirts don't stay at their ankles. But this show really captures the feel of playing outside as a kid using nothing but your imagination.
Myself; Yourself (TV) So-so The directing didn't draw out the emotion that the story could have delivered. The ending seemed very rushed and unsatisfying. More could have been done with these characters.
Naisho no Tsubomi (OAV) Decent
Najica Blitz Tactics (TV) So-so
Nanaka 6/17 (TV) Good The ending was very poorly put together. That is, the ending of the plot itself wasn't bad, but it definitely could have been directed better. The rest of the show was pretty entertaining.

Ouran High School Host Club (TV) Excellent How do you make a romance series involving a girl who is basically asexual? Make it a comedy! A really entertaining series throughout.
Papillon Rose (OAV) So-so
Peach Girl (TV) Excellent Great drama. I found myself rooting for different people at different points in the show, and I was satisfied with the way it ended.
Penguin Girl (ONA) Good
Please Teacher! (TV) Good
Please Teacher! (OAV) Good
Please Twins! (TV) Good I liked how they incorporated the setting and several characters from Please Teacher while introducing new characters and a fresh concept. However, a lot of the show was just "Maybe we're relatives, but maybe we're strangers" over and over and over.
Please Twins! (OAV) Good
Popotan (TV) Good On the surface, it's a fanservice moe anime, but it actually has some substance to it, too. The ending (upon their final decision) kind of sucked, but I couldn't think of a better way to end it, given the situation.
(Le) Portrait de Petite Cossette (OAV)
Potemayo (TV) Good Guchuko is my hero.
Princess Jellyfish (TV) Good
Princess Lover! (TV) Decent
Princess Mononoke (movie) Masterpiece This show is truly unique. It successfully captures an entire world and culture where industrial man is fighting the gods over ownership of the earth. One aspect of this movie which I truly admire is the fact that, like in the real world, there aren't *truly* any good guys or bad guys; everyone has his or her own reasons for doing what they're doing, and conflicts come from misunderstandings and self-interest on both sides. The show is a work of art with a good mix of action, tenderness, and commentary on life.
Puni Puni Poemy (OAV) Decent More Excel Saga humor. If you liked Excel Saga, this is a great follow-up.

Rosario + Vampire Capu2 (TV) Decent
Rozen Maiden (TV) Good
Rumbling Hearts (TV) Good Bad end. He picked the wrong girl. It seems they corrected that mistake before the beginning of the "second season" OAV.
S.A (TV) Decent
Sasameki Koto (TV) Very good
Sayonara Zetsubou-sensei (TV) Very good The kind of ADHD quick-jab comedy you expect from the makers of Pani Poni Dash, yet very artistic and (dare I say) beautiful, in a neurotic/sadistic sort of way. There's more traction than in Pani Poni Dash, and I don't feel burned out after each episode. Probably the best ending sequence I've ever seen.
School Rumble (TV) Excellent Greatest school love comedy of all time? If you consider the number of episodes through which this series has managed to stay fresh and marathonable, I say so!
School Rumble: 2nd Semester (TV) Excellent The second series is a seamless continuation of the first, and like the first it continues to be fresh and funny through to the very end. It ended saying "See you next time!" There had better be a third series. I want more!
School Rumble: Extra Class (OAV) Excellent
Seitokai Yakuindomo (TV) Good
Serial Experiments Lain (TV) Not really good
Shiki (TV) Excellent
Skip Beat! (TV) Very good
Sola (TV) Masterpiece My favorite show of the season, hands-down. It looked like it was going to be a sucky copypasta series at first, but by the second episode it really took off. I love all of the characters. And if you're annoyed about the Rei clone, trust me, her character gains depth and substance in episode 6 onward. I really don't think Aono deserved the ending she got, considering her role throughout the series and the sacrifices others made for her, but the last little bit in the ending gave a weird sense of hope. I'm curious what the two upcoming special DVD episodes will contribute to the plot, if anything.
Spirited Away (movie) Masterpiece An amazing work of art and entertaining piece for all ages. There isn't much of a plot, but there's definitely a distinct culture presented within the world of the gods, and it is presented very well. The difference between this and the disaster that was Howl's Moving Castle is that Spirited Away helps you discover the world they're presenting rather than simply leaving you to feel lost within it.
Steel Angel Kurumi (TV) So-so
Step Up Love Story (OAV) Good
Strawberry Eggs (TV) Very good Despite the sort of quirky premise, this show actually has some nice touching moments.
Strawberry Panic! (TV) Good Once you get over the premise that everyone at this school just happens to be a lesbian by her own accord, this show is worth the watch.
Strike Witches (OAV) So-so

_Summer (OAV) Decent
Sumomomo Momomo - Chijō Saikyō no Yome (TV) Good Harem love comedy with a martial arts theme. The guy treats the two apparently milk-deprived girls like a couple of flies, which drives most of the Rizelmine-esque physical comedy. Quite entertaining with moderate fanservice.
Suzuka (TV) Very good A romance with lots of drama and tension. The guy was an idiot for letting the one relationship slip, but oh well, she deserved someone better than him anyway. ;)
Sweet Blue Flowers (TV) Good
Taisho Baseball Girls (TV) Good
Tenshi na Konamaiki (TV) Decent Don't be turned off by the horrible artwork. It's actually pretty entertaining once you get used to it.

Weiß Survive (TV)
Weiß Survive R (TV) Decent
Whisper of the Heart (movie) So-so For a Miyazaki movie, this show was quite disappointing. As it finished, it didn't really leave me with anything. Certainly not the warm fuzziness that he seemed to be shooting for. The characters seemed bland and uninteresting, there was no plot worth mentioning (I'd consider it a mediocre one-episode plot in a typical series), and the atmosphere quality faded in and out.

Futakoi Alternative (TV) Decent If you liked the original Futakoi, Futakoi Alternative is... totally different. It's an action series first and foremost. The only similarity with the original is the twin characters. My favorite twin pair from Futakoi didn't get much screen time in the original series, but they're the main pair in Alternative. As I'm not that big on action anime, I doubt I'll finish this series.

Hatenkō Yūgi (TV) Weak Bad directing and pacing. The setting seems to change every ten seconds with little to no transition. Facial expressions are often drawn in an awkward manner. These presentation flaws distract from the story, which so far also seems rather weak.

Welcome to the NHK (TV) Not really good The concept has a lot of potential, but it seemed to be really poorly executed. It's as if the creators don't even understand the mind of the character they're portraying. He falls far out of character in every other scene, and his conspiratorial delusions are just superficial caricatures of what a true paranoid schizophrenic would experience.
Winter Sonata (TV)

Yakitate!! Japan (TV) Not really good It's an anime series about baking bread. Somehow, it's actually pretty cool. I wasn't hooked enough to watch the whole thing, but I definitely tip my hat to the creators for pulling off a show with such a dumb premise.
