| Seen all | Rating | Comment |
| 3x3 Eyes (OAV) | Decent | The anime is too short, it condensed 5 volumes into 7 episodes, and unworthy of the 40 volume epic created by Takada. Read the manga. Hayashibara does a great job voicing Pai. |
| 3x3 Eyes Seima Densetsu (OAV) | Good | Like I said for above, read the manga. |
| Ah! My Goddess: The Movie | Decent | Nice stand-alone movie. The 2-person motorbike race looks very cool. |
| Ai Yori Aoshi (TV) | So-so | The perfect woman that cooks and cleans and lives to serve you... not that interesting really. |
| Ai Yori Aoshi ~Enishi~ (TV) | Decent | Rated it a little better than first series since we get more development with Tina. |
| Air (TV) | So-so | First half kinda boring since I didn't really care about the problems of the side characters. :p The far-flashback part is when it gets a bit better. Best to ignore the origin of the story. |
| Aishiteruze Baby (TV) | Very good | Most eps are great, some are boring. Everyone speaks in short sentences ^_^. Good ending. |
| Akira (movie) | Not really good | Story could've been much better. |
| All Purpose Cultural Cat Girl Nuku Nuku (OAV) | Good | Funny and lighthearted. |
| (The) Animatrix (OAV) | Decent | Fills in a lot of the backstory. Half good, half boring. |
| Appleseed (movie) | Decent | Typical save mankind scifi scenario. Story is so-so but the CG action scenes are decent. |
| Appleseed: Ex Machina (movie) | Weak | Very predictable and boring |
| Area 88 (TV) | Not really good | The first series where I watched it first and completely on AN On-demand. Noir moody type but it grows on you. The dogfights are cool. |
| Azumanga Daioh (TV) | Excellent | Very funny show... no plot really, just day to day life at school and special events. Episodic |
| Azumanga Daioh - The Very Short Movie | Decent | Like a preview of the show. |
| Azumanga Web Daioh (ONA) | Good | Funny. |
| Banner of the Stars (TV) | Good | The story continues right where it leaves off. More focused on the war than Jinto X Lafiel so not as good. The Bebous Brothers are boring to listen to. |
| Banner of the Stars II (TV) | Very good | Alright, the focus on the love birds is better than the previous series. Just as good as COTS if not better. Admiral Spoor is awesome. Oh the emotions! |
| Banner of the Stars III (OAV) | Good | Aww... so short. But some good Jinto-Lafiel love in it. |
| Basilisk (TV) | Good | OMG Romeo and Juliet, ninja-style! It could've been much better if they didn't slow down so much half-way through the series and if more people lived. =\ 18 episodes would've been a better length but this kind of pacing is expected from Gonzo. |
| Battle Angel (OAV) | Good | Nice action. The plot flowed well, never boring. Too bad just 2 episodes which covered just the start of the manga. |
| Battle Royale (live-action movie) | Decent | Without the killing and violence, this movie would be nothing. Curiosity satisfied. Go-go of Kill Bill is in it. :) |
| Battle Royale II: Requiem (live-action movie) | Weak | Makes just as little sense as the first and sucks so much more. And Motoki of PGSM is the first to die! WTF?! |
| BECK: Mongolian Chop Squad (TV) | Masterpiece | Best slice-of-life anime I can think of. All the characters are very believable, very good storytelling. Good anime ending. I want a Maho Massage. |
| Berserk (TV) | Masterpiece | Bloody and intense! |
| Black Cat (TV) | Decent | Train is much cooler before he partnered up with Sven. Darker and more serious while alone and hanging out with Saya compare to the sudden change in character after he starting being with Sven. He became more annoying. |
| Black Lagoon (TV) | Decent | Kinda like Cowboy Bebop, but not as good. More of an excuse to show as many fetish girls as possible, with guns. You have your killer maid, killer nun, killer loli-twins, killer Chinese-chick-in-qui-pao (with knives), killer ex-Russian military commander, killer yakuza ojosama. Jungle guerrillas arc was a bore. |
| Black Lagoon: The Second Barrage (TV) | Good | Immediate continuation of the first season. More exciting episodes and more Cowboy Bebop similarities; last fight in series is a fight between guns and katana. |
| Blue Gender (TV) | Bad | boring |
| Bottle Fairy (TV) | Good | Cute, episodic, useful tool to learn more about Japanese culture. ^_^ |
| Burn Up! (OAV) | So-so | One of the early chicks-with-guns. Gunsmith Cats is better. |
| Cardcaptor Sakura (TV) | So-so | Decided to watch this to see what's so great about it and why so many AMVs of it. Not impressed. Truly a kids' show, but kinda wrong with all the young-old crushes. Her mom and dad were high school student and teacher, wtf. CLAMP really must know what pedo otakus love. |
| Cardcaptor Sakura Movie 2: The Sealed Card | So-so | Resolves Sakura x Shaoran's relationship. |
| Carried by the Wind: Tsukikage Ran (TV) | Very good | Episodic till the end. A cross between Slayers OAVs and Samurai Champloo. Like Lina and Naga in Tokugawa Japan. Nice fight scenes, funny. Like One Piece, Meow (Nami's VA's role here) has a pinwheel and there's a character called Sanji. |
| Casshern (live-action movie) | Good | Apocalyptic future told in a poetic way.. of sorts. Took effort to follow what's going on. Great visuals. |
| Castle in the Sky (movie) | Good | Pirates are cool. :) |
| Cat Soup (OAV) | Very good | Very weird, it'd be even cooler if you watch it while high. |
| Chobits (TV) | Decent | Tries too much to be sad. I don't get Hideki's robo-love. |
| Chrono Crusade (TV) | Good | Too many fillers, if story stuffed into 13 episodes it would've been good. Very sad ending. ED song is a favorite. |
| City Hunter (TV) | Good | Entertaining, episodic, funny. |
| City Hunter '91 (TV) | Good | Didn't really want to watch seasons 2 and 3 so I just skipped to this one. Its got a couple of stories more serious than the first season but still episodic. |
| City Hunter: Bay City Wars (OAV) | Decent | Decent stand alone movie |
| City Hunter: Death of the Vicious Criminal Ryo Saeba (special) | So-so | Decent stand alone movie |
| City Hunter: Goodbye my Sweetheart (special) | Decent | Decent stand alone movie |
| Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion (TV) | Masterpiece | Like Death Note but supernatural powers here have less restrictions than the notebooks in Death Note. And also mecha political action with plenty of hot girls. |
| Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion R2 (TV) | Excellent | The conclusion to the series. Gets weird and it can't really do the secret-life act for Lelouch since that cat's out of the bag for that. But it redeemed itself with a fitting ending. |
| Cowboy Bebop (TV) | Masterpiece | It's great. The song "Wo qui non coin" is a favorite. Episodic. |
| Cowboy Bebop: The Movie | Very good | Nice stand-alone movie. |
| Crest of the Stars (TV) | Very good | The politics of this war, this universe, is interesting. The Abh, an advance race of arrogant humans, expands its empire, makes its neighbors nervous, and war ignites (sounds like WW2 huh?). They're such bastards but can't help but to like them. Love story good, every episode good. Though shoot outs in the last ep became almost unbelievable and cheesy and didn't feel right with the rest of the series. |
| Cromartie High - The Movie (live-action) | Not really good | Not as effective as the anime. |
| Cromartie High School (TV) | Decent | Most episodes are funny despite being so pointless. |
| Death Note (TV) | Masterpiece | The restrictions and powers of the death note may be stupid at times and obviously made to support the story, but that's just a minor nitpick in this excellent crime drama in the race to uncover the opponent's identity. |
| DNA² (TV) | Very good | Great love polygon story. Harem. |
| DNA² (OAV) | So-so | kinda sucks, didn't develope the polygon much. |
| Doki Doki School Hours (TV) | So-so | Decent light hearted series. Though jokes aren't bad, they keep running the same ones. |
| Elfen Lied (TV) | Very good | A guilty pleasure. Extremely explict: flying body parts, full nudity, women and children are not spared. Plus a good plot. |
| Ergo Proxy (TV) | Decent | Starts out strong with kinda cyberpunk post-apocalyptic sci-fi mystery with an ass kicking chick. But the second half of it just went EVA-cryptic on me and end of the world crap, weak finish. Pino is a great comic relief and saves a lot of this series. ^^ |
| Escaflowne: The Movie | So-so | It's ok. |
| EX-Driver (OAV) | Decent | Despite having a ridiculous premise, the car chases are pretty cool. |
| Excel Saga (TV) | Excellent | Very funny and weird parody. Episodic. |
| (The) Familiar of Zero (TV) | Good | Good harem anime, pretty bold sometimes, would make a good hentai if parodied. Only surprise is how easily some of the characters killed, probably more realistic in that sense. No time to think about morals in the heat of combat. |
| FLCL (OAV) | Good | Slice of boy's life, not bad. |
| Fruits Basket (TV) | So-so | It's ok, some episodes feel redundant. |
| Full Metal Panic! (TV) | Masterpiece | Best mix of genres I've ever seen. OP/ED songs are favorites. |
| Full Metal Panic! The Second Raid (TV) | Masterpiece | As a big fan of FMP, I had to rate this "Masterpiece." But relative to the other FMPs, I'd rate it as "Excellent." Nontheless, a must see for FMP fans for the emotional climax of the franchise. |
| Full Metal Panic? Fumoffu (TV) | Masterpiece | Even funnier than FMP. Episodic. OP song is a favorite. |
| Full Moon O Sagashite (TV) | Decent | Very kiddy and girly. More in the TV than the manga. Nice ending though. |
| Fullmetal Alchemist (TV) | Excellent | Occasional fillers in this 1-quest 51ep action adventure. Ending is rather anti-climatic. The 4th OP song "Rewrite" rocks. |
| Fullmetal Alchemist: The Movie - Conqueror of Shamballa | Very good | Continues where the TV ended, giving it a better ending. |
| Genshiken (TV) | Masterpiece | This series is really about Saki cuz without her it wouldn't be half as entertaining. |
| Genshiken 2 (TV) | Good | More otaku-ness but without the focus on Saki it's just not as good. |
| Ghost in the Shell (movie) | Good | Cool action movie. |
| Ghost in the Shell 2: Innocence (movie) | Good | The story is ok, the animation is superb, the children look ugly, but the dog is cute. |
| Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex (TV) | Very good | Pretty cool, much better story than the movies. This is one of those series that's better to watch it in English dub than read subtitles, cuz of all the talking and technobabble. |
| Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex - Tachikoma na Hibi (OAV) | Good | Funny, cute. ^^ |
| Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex: Solid State Society (movie) | Good | It's good if you're already a fan of GitS and want to see more. |
| Ginban Kaleidoscope (TV) | Very good | Predictable Plot but still good. Cool that they spoke English (Engrish) and Russian (Roosian?) when appropriate. Felt that there was a bit too much talking though. |
| Grave of the Fireflies (movie) | So-so | Sad, but not that sad, just pitiful. :p |
| Great Teacher Onizuka (TV) | Masterpiece | Very funny, fanservice, outrageous. |
| Grenadier (TV) | So-so | The concept of a hot chick removing people's will to fight without resorting to violence has promise, she doesn't even need to have oversized breasts. This series can be much better with a better story/writing but I guess production is counting on fanservice to do everything. |
| GTO Drama Special (live-action) | Masterpiece | Can't get enough GTO. The climax of the relationship between Onizuka and Fuyutsuki's relationship. |
| GTO: Great Teacher Onizuka (live-action TV) | Masterpiece | Very good drama with touch of humor. |
| GTO: The Movie (live-action) | Decent | Just another story. |
| Gunparade March (TV) | Good | A Mech anime that's more about romance than fighting. The characters are surprising cheerful for the dire situation they face. The war against the invading bugs seem as distant to the citizens as the war in Iraq is to me. |
| Gunslinger Girl (TV) | Good | Interesting... nice gun battles. |
| Gunsmith Cats (OAV) | Good (dub & sub) | Nice action, guns, explosions. Nitty Gritty style with some fanservice. It's kinda like Dirty Hairy. |
| Haibane Renmei (TV) | So-so | It's ok, one of those "I hate myself and have no place I belong to" kinda anime. Too slow for me. |
| Hell Girl (TV) | Good | It starts out interesting, but by ep5, I'm wondering if it's gonna be the same monster-of-the-week routine for every episode. In a sense, it kept to the routine of one revenge case every episode, but it got much better by including Hajime-chan and Tsugumi into the story. |
| Hikaru no Go (TV) | Masterpiece | Who'd think the game of go can be so exciting. Intense. |
| Hikaru No Go: New Year Special | Excellent | More HnG, though the TV ended it very well already. |
| His and Her Circumstances (TV) | So-so (sub), Decent (dub) | Pure shoujo. The comedy is good. Horrible ending. Even more incomplete than Berserk. Could've ended it earlier with 13 episodes if ep26 is just gonna leave it hanging. Too many "review of what's happened." |
| Honey and Clover (TV) | Very good | Funny romantic comedy with plenty of one-way love and the angst that comes with it. |
| Honey and Clover (live-action movie) | Good | Covers pretty much the first season of the anime. Well done. |
| Honey and Clover II (TV) | Decent | I like the first episodes focused on Ayumi. The later ones about Hagu were bleh mainly due to the fact that I just can't believe that shattered glass falling on you can render you cripple for so long. Such bs. :p But I like the honey and clover bread ending scene. |
| Howl's Moving Castle (movie) | So-so | There were some harder to understand/believe/plot holes parts. It's pretty and has some good characters but story is lacking. |
| Hunter X Hunter (TV) | Good | Where Naruto ripped from, slow pace at times. |
| Hunter X Hunter (OAV) | Excellent | Exciting conclusion for a character's quest. |
| Hunter X Hunter: G I Final (OAV) | Good | Continues GI, starts rather boring (training) but gets good from the dodge ball game onward. Good ending. |
| Hunter X Hunter: Greed Island (OAV) | Decent | kinda boring |
| Initial D (TV) | Good | 65% racing and 35% love. Pretty good drama. |
| Initial D (live-action movie) | So-so | The races are nice, drama is unsatisfying. |
| Initial D: Extra Stage (OAV) | Decent | OAV means boobies |
| Initial D: Fourth Stage (TV) | Decent | Ah, no Natsuki... but there was Kyoko... but then the last races sucked cuz she didn't appear anymore. So this was more like 90% racing and 10% love. |
| Initial D: Second Stage (TV) | Very good | Noooo the car! The "abyss" for Takumi of the whole series. Great drama and angst. |
| Initial D: Third Stage (movie) | Very good | A good movie that solidifies Takumi and Natsuki's relationship. |
| Inuyasha (TV) | Very good | Very fun series, good story. But like many anime, it's over before the manga is finished and leaves an open ending. It's like Kenshin mixed with FMP. ED song "My Will" is a favorite. |
| Inuyasha Meguri Au Mae no Unmei Koiuta (special) | Good | Just a review episode that sums up the past. |
| Inuyasha the Movie 2: The Castle Beyond the Looking Glass | Decent | Movies of TV series aren't as good. |
| InuYasha the Movie 3: Swords of an Honorable Ruler | Good | Movies of TV series aren't as good. Exciting intro though. |
| Inuyasha the Movie 4: Fire on the Mystic Island | Decent | Usual stand-alone movie. |
| Inuyasha the Movie: Affections Touching Across Time | So-so | Movies of TV series aren't as good. |
| Jigoku Shoujo Futakomori (TV) | Good | Mostly the same episodic style of "normal" episodes of the first season. But there are some episodes that tell the stories of how Enma Ai met her 3 assistants. Those alone make this sequel worth watching if you like the characters. Also ended nicely with Ai finally released from her duty... in the only way fitting for this series: a sad way. |
| Jin-Roh - The Wolf Brigade (movie) | Very good | I like the German weapons and armor they used. |
| Jubei-chan - Secret of the Lovely Eyepatch (TV) | Excellent | Starts off as a wacky comedy/magical-girl-monster-of-the-week fair. Then gets a bit serious without losing its comedy and still felt like the same anime. Good stuff. |
| Jubei-Chan 2: The Counter Attack of Siberia Yagyu (TV) | Very good | More Jubei-chan goodness but the side characters are even more minor this time. The duel while falling off the cliff is really cool. |
| Junkers Come Here (movie) | Masterpiece | Great story. A truely touching movie. |
| Kage kara Mamoru! (TV) | Decent | Generic shounen harem comedy. But at least it's nice and short. |
| Kaleido Star (TV) | Very good | Pretty good never-give-up-fight-for-your-dream anime. |
| Kaleido Star: Good dayo! Goood!! (OAV) | Not really good | chibi kiddy stuff |
| Kaleido Star: Legend of Phoenix ~Layla Hamilton Story~ (OAV) | So-so | Layla's not as interesting as Sora. |
| Kaleido Star: New Wings Extra Stage (OAV) | Good | Fool isn't really just a spirit afterall. Wish there was more about his past. :) |
| Karas (OAV) | Good | Very pretty and exciting action scenes. Ending kinda dumb. What's with these outrageous apocalyptic endings in animes that don't fit it. |
| Kiddy Grade (TV) | Decent | First 8 eps are background fillers, then story begins. |
| Kiki's Delivery Service (movie) | Very good | Entertaining, lighthearted. |
| Kill Bill Chapter 3: The Origin of O-Ren (movie segment) | Excellent | wth, this isn't anime. :p |
| Kimagure Orange Road (TV) | Excellent | Uber love triangle comedy. Superb characters. Episodic. |
| Kimagure Orange Road (OAV) | Very good | Just like the TV episodes |
| Kimagure Orange Road: Summer's Beginning (movie) | Decent | A mediocre epilogue. |
| Kimagure Orange Road: The Movie | Very good | The love triangle crashes to an end. |
| Kino's Journey (TV) | Decent | Easy going series, nothing spectacular, the episode about Kino's past is good, wish they did more of those cuz the other episodes were fairly predictable. |
| Kite (OAV) | Good | Super violent with XXX material. The sex scenes made not want to burn it... but in the end, the kickass violence won out. |
| Kujibiki Unbalance (OAV) | Not really good | If you pay close enough attention in Genshiken, then you don't need to watch this. |
| Last Exile (TV) | Very good | Good story, though when every girl started having feelings for Claus, it didn't make much sense and made the series worse. Lavie and Claus relationship to me should've stayed like Mulder and Scully's relationship; more than love. This series makes me wanna join the Air Force, even if just to be a mechanic. :) |
| (The) Law of Ueki (TV) | Good | Superstar cast, interesting fights, funny characters. Predictable plot but I enjoyed it. |
| Lost Chapter of the Stars - Birth (special) | Good | Nice story about Lafiel's parents. You know, in COTS, when Plakia tells Lafiel to take the shuttle and leave with Jinto, she uses the tone/style that a mother uses to her child. My Japanese class is helping a lot cuz I would've missed this subtle detail if I only understood the subtitles. |
| Love Hina (TV) | Very good | Halarious, still the best harem anime. |
| Love Hina Again (OAV) | Good | So so conclusion, the manga did it much better and farther. |
| Love Hina Spring Special - I wish Your Dream | Good | Shameless fanservice! |
| Love Hina X'mas Special - Silent Eve | Excellent | The emotional climax of Love Hina. |
| Maburaho (TV) | Good | Funny harem anime though it is repetitive at times. |
| Macross Zero (OAV) | Decent | Very Nice CG battles, that's about it. The plot is very predictable and boring. |
| Magic Knight Rayearth (TV) | So-so | Not bad magic girl anime. There's something cool about girls, swordplay, magic, and mechs mixed together. Overly emotional at times. |
| Magic Knight Rayearth 2 (TV 2) | Weak | Girls return to finish what they started. |
| Magical Shopping Arcade Abenobashi (TV) | Excellent | Funny parody anime of parallel universes, more plot and continuous than Excel Saga. |
| Mahoromatic - Automatic Maiden (TV) | Excellent | Good job by Gainax to turn something as sexist as a girl wishing to be a maid into something not so demeaning. Fun, meaningful, and entertaining, boobies in almost every episode. ^.^ |
| Mahoromatic: Something More Beautiful (TV) | Very good | For those interested in how it ends. Wraps it up well, a bit confusing like other Gainax endings. |
| Mahoromatic: Summer Special | Decent | Like a filler episode of Something More Beautiful. Watch it before ep10. |
| Martian Successor Nadesico (TV) | Very good (dub & sub) | Funny parody of mech anime. It's like Love Hina in space also. |
| Martian Successor Nadesico: The Motion Picture - Prince of Darkness | Good (dub & sub) | More serious than the TV. No "baka" from Ruri. All characters are still true to their nature, even Akito despite his quest for revenge. |
| (The) Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya (TV) | Masterpiece | Mixes a couple of genres together with a twist of Haruhi. Even without a solid ending; the comedy, storytelling, and uniquness of this series is enough to earn a Masterpiece rating. "Boredom is a horrible thing. However, Haruhi got up off her butt and did something about it. She set out to change the whole world. While she didn't quite pull that off (yet), she did manage to change the lives of everyone around her. If there's only one thing that's to be learned from Haruhi, it's that doing what you want is the only way to escape all the hum-drum that is modern society. And, most importantly, it lets us believe that if we wish hard enough and take the initiative, maybe something truly interesting will come our way." -FatPianoBoy |
| Mezzo (TV) | Decent | Episodic, best to watch it slowly. |
| Mezzo Forte (OAV) | Decent | Saw the no-sex version. The action is good. Entertaining. |
| Midori Days (TV) | Excellent | Very funny and surprising. The excellent characters make this great. |
| Millennium Actress (movie) | Decent | Well animated and nice story. Wouldn't really watch it again. |
| Mobile Suit Gundam Seed (TV) | Very good | Decent angsty mecha anime. Some of the main characters are pretty annoying at first. But they develop into better people that cry less. Or die. :p |
| Mobile Suit Gundam Seed Destiny (TV) | Very good | More crybabies but you'll get used to them. LOL. |
| Mobile Suit Gundam Wing: Endless Waltz (OAV) | So-so | It seemed cooler the first time I watched it. |
| Moribito - Guardian of the Spirit (TV) | Masterpiece | Awesome fast pace start and fight scenes at the start. Slows down a bit but stays good throughout the rest of the series. One of the more realistic anime in the sense that the people are not crazy or evil. But pragmatic and believe in their own morals/justice. |
| Mujin Wakusei Survive (TV) | Excellent | Surprisingly intense for a series for kids. Very good characters and development. Excellent ending. |
| My Bride is a Mermaid (TV) | Good | Predictable wacky romantic comedy. Making the girl's family to be yakuza is a funny twist. |
| My Neighbor Totoro (movie) | Good | A very kiddy movie. |
| My-HiME (TV) | Decent | Sailor Moon with more sorrow, fanservice, and explosions. |
| Nadia - Secret of Blue Water (TV) | Very good | Pretty good, but it could've been even better if they weren't so eager to show Nadia doing "women's work." Also, it'd be better without the epilogue... ;) |
| NANA (TV) | Masterpiece | Shoujo anime that shows superb character development and how people's heart can change. So unrequited... sigh. |
| Naruto Special: Akaki Yotsuba no Clover wo Sagase (OAV) | Decent | A side story, good cuz it doesn't drag like the show. |
| Naruto the Movie: Ninja Clash in the Land of Snow | So-so | Started off good. Just got cheesier and cheesier towards the end. |
| Natsuiro no Sunadokei (OAV) | Weak | 2 doormat crybaby girls don't work so well in a love triangle/harem wannabe. Especially if it's only 2 ep long. |
| Natsume Yūjin-Chō (TV) | Decent | Episodic, very much like "Wagaya no Oinarisama" except weaker comedy, no romantic interest (unless you count the yaoi-ness), and no fanservice. More info about Reiko's past would be more interesting too. |
| Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind (movie) | Masterpiece | This is what Miyazaki is all about. Great stand-alone movie. |
| Neon Genesis Evangelion (TV) | Excellent | Very entertaining mind trip. |
| Neon Genesis Evangelion: Death & Rebirth (movie) | Very good | More mind trip. |
| Neon Genesis Evangelion: The End of Evangelion (movie) | Very good | Pyscho mind trip. |
| Ninja Nonsense (TV) | Very good | Very funny ninja parody with a cute girl and a perverted yellow ball that talks and flies. |
| Ninja Scroll (movie) | Good | Good stand-alone movie. |
| Nodame Cantabile (TV) | Masterpiece | LOL, so funny. Great balance of silliness with solid voice acting makes this a gem. |
| Nodame Cantabile (live-action TV drama) | Masterpiece | Pretty much covers the first season of the anime. But it left out the music camp arc. The CG enhanced violence looks rather disturbing since it's live action instead of a cartoonish anime. |
| Nodame Cantabile: Paris (TV) | Decent | Not as funny and good as the first because Nodame and Chiaki already got together and missing the rest of the funny characters. So really just shows more of these 2's professional development. |
| Noir (TV) | Weak | So slow at times... moody, dark, ok fight scenes. |
| Now and Then, Here and There (TV) | Masterpiece | The best 13-ep anime I've ever seen. Even though the characters are mostly children, they are very involving and dynamic and they go through very adult and sad situations. The depicted war-time situation is very unforgiving without any of the sugar coating to make it a happy anime. The pacing is fast and the violence is explicit but not excessive. The ending song is a nice slow melody that lets me catch my breath after watching each episode. 13 episodes wraps it up nicely. Bittersweet ending. I love it! |
| Oh My Goddess! (OAV) | So-so | Cute love story. |
| One Piece - Defeat The Pirate Ganzak! (OAV) | Good | Decent OAV to give a general feel of the fighting in One Piece. |
| One Piece Special: Adventure in the Ocean's Navel | Good | Usual movie of a long continuing series. The crew comes to a place, helps the citizens out, kick some bad guys' butts, and go on their merry way. |
| One Piece: Chinjou Shima no Chopper Oukoku (movie 3) | Good | Usual movie of a long continuing series. |
| One Piece: Dead End no Bouken (movie 4) | Good | Nice stand alone movie. Nami's outfit is extra spicy. Only real fight is between Luffy and the bad boss. |
| One Piece: Django's Dance Carnival (movie) | Excellent | Ya Jango! |
| One Piece: Karakuri Shiro no Mecha Kyohei (movie 7) | Decent | Nothing special, but Nami's bouncy breasts totally ruins her image. :( |
| One Piece: Nejimaki Shima no Bouken (movie 2) | Decent | Usual movie of a long continuing series. |
| One Piece: Norowareta Seiken (movie 5) | Very good | Better than most other OP movies. Kept a good pace throughout the movie with some good drama and comedy and Zoro being the badass that he is. |
| One Piece: Omatsuri Danshaku to Himitsu no Shima (movie 6) | Good | A nice movie that turns a mystery into a horror. The pace of the end became rather slow and felt awkard and over exaggerated. |
| One Piece: Take Aim! The Pirate Baseball King (movie) | Good | A funny little special with voice-overs done by Buggy and Bon-Clay. |
| Oruchuban Ebichu (TV) | Very good | Hahhaha, so funny. ^.^ |
| Ouran High School Host Club (TV) | Masterpiece | Reverse-harem hilarity. Of course, shoujo anime does much better drama and story than the opposite harem type animes. Good stuff. Ended very well. |
| Outlaw Star (TV) | Decent | Very predictable though still decent. Some fillers are really funny and much better than the regular story. |
| Paranoia Agent (TV) | Good | The trippin ending fits well with the mind trip that is the rest of the story. Kinda sad, the chief's wife. |
| Peacemaker (TV) | So-so | Promising at first but became pretty boring until the last 5 episodes. |
| Peach Girl (TV) | Excellent | Angsty love triangle. Momo-chan reminds me so much of Kaname of FMP. |
| Perfect Blue (movie) | Good | Plays with your mind but never leave you lost. |
| Petite Princess Yucie (TV) | So-so | Watched the second half of it on AN On-demand. Generic shoujo but nice touching ending. |
| (The) Place Promised in Our Early Days (movie) | Decent | very pretty, but seemed kinda too long. Compress it to 60 mins would be more the director's style. |
| Planetes (TV) | Very good | Most realistic sci fi anime (no sound in space). |
| Please Teacher! (TV) | Decent | Bumbling love starved teacher... it has some good dramatic moments. |
| Please Teacher! (OAV) | Decent | Pretty funny OAV actually. |
| Porco Rosso (movie) | Good | A fun movie. Lighter than other Miyazaki's. No real villan. |
| Pretear (TV) | Good | magic-girl/male harem turns out to have some nice twists. |
| Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon (live-action TV) | Masterpiece | If you don't mind the cheesy transformations and fight sequences, the characters and story is totally awesome. Think GTO Drama without the teachers, with magic girls, tripple the friendship, angst, and romance, and with the threat of world annihilation. Enjoying this makes me realize I'm a 7 year old Japanese girl. ^.^ |
| Princess Mononoke (movie) | Very good | Violent girls are hot. O.o |
| Princess Nine (TV) | Very good | More shoujo than sports. Cheesy at times but all good. My 200th "seen all" title. :) |
| R.O.D -The TV- | Good | The touching episodes that try to make you cry doesn't work for me. The action is cool though. |
| RahXephon (TV) | Bad | Flat characters, slow pace, boring. |
| Ranma ½ OAV | Good | Like the TV but with only solid episodes. |
| Ranma ½ (TV) | Good | Good romantic comedy with no resolution and an enormous cast. |
| Read or Die (OAV) | Very good | Nice action packed OAV. |
| Record of Lodoss War (OAV) | So-so | Somewhat ghetto but still decent. |
| Revolutionary Girl Utena (TV) | Very good | So weird, yet good. Never ending symbolizms. Like watching a twisted version of Sailor Moon. |
| Revolutionary Girl Utena: The Movie | Bad | WTF, Utena-mobile? |
| Rocket Girls (TV) | Very good | Why do even good shows gota seem lolicon nowadays. |
| Rumbling Hearts (TV) | Masterpiece | Angst filled love triangle. Intense melodrama. |
| Rune Soldier (TV) | Good | First hint of a bigger plot didn't appear until like ep16. Nontheless, every episode is funny and entertaining. |
| Rurouni Kenshin (TV) | Masterpiece | My all time favorite! I enjoyed the "filler" episodes too except the dumb Fensui mini-arc at the end. |
| Saber Marionette J (TV) | Good | Nice comdey/action. |
| Saber Marionette J Again (OAV) | So-so | So so OAV, but it does explain how Tiger gets repaired for season 2. Lime is so much like Sailor Moon. |
| Saber Marionette J to X (TV) | Excellent | After watching J to X, it made Saber Marionette J the only robo-girl-love series I like. The way it ended fits how Otaru views his Marionettes; as his daughters. This is how it should've been in Chobits: if I was Hideki and I take care of a naive girl (Chii) who knows nothing of the world but automatically attaches to me, she would be more of a daughter to me than a lover. Kudos to Otaru for agreeing with me :). Excellent ending for the series. |
| SaiKano (TV) | So-so | Everyone's so sad and pitiful. Got kinda sick of it and just wanted to see the end. |
| Sailor Moon (TV) | Good | With the monster of the week formula, Sailor Moon somehow developes a good story about love and friendship. Dubs on TV |
| Sailor Moon R (TV) | Decent | The fights between Chibi Usa and Usagi are always funny. Dubs on TV |
| Sailor Moon R Movie: Promise of the Rose | Decent | Nice stand alone movie. The Senshi Tribute AMV I like used clips from it too. |
| Sailor Moon S (TV) | Good | My favorite season because it developes the other Sailor Senshi the most. They become much more than just supporting characters and have dreams, challenges, and worries of their own. By now the transformation and finishing move scenes are so repetitive that I just skip them. |
| Sailor Moon Sailor Stars (TV) | Decent | If you compare the first season with this final season, you can clearly see how far the girls have come and grown. Usagi's devotion to Mamoru is tested. This season is her biggest emotional gauntlet. In ep194 when she breaks down and cries and Seiya says, "Am I not good enough?" .... priceless scene, almost cried myself. And it gets worse before it gets better, poor lonely Usagi. Happy ending though, of course, for this 200 ep series that as a whole I'd consider a masterpiece. |
| Sailor Moon SuperS (TV) | So-so | An entire season focused on Chibi Usa, not very good. |
| Samurai Champloo (TV) | Very good | Similarities shared with Bebop; always traveling, always hungry, always short on money, with pasts that haunt them. Episodic, every ep is entertaining. |
| Samurai X: Reflection (OAV) | Excellent | For those who want the animated ending. Though different from the manga and condensed the whole Jinchu arc into 30 mins... it's still good. Just not the same calibur as the rest of Kenshin. |
| Samurai X: The Motion Picture | Very good | Like a mini-arc from the TV. Yahiko cries :_(. The scene of Kenshin standing among the bodies of the dead and the wails of the mourners is pretty powerful. Excessive use of the same flashback scene though. |
| Samurai X: Trust & Betrayal (OAV) | Masterpiece | The first anime I watched that got me into anime. Before it all anime were just cartoon to me. The begining is still a gut wrenching scene no matter how many times I watch it. |
| School Rumble (TV) | Masterpiece | First episodes are like Azumanga Daioh focused around a love triangle. Later a plot developes. How can heartbreaking angst be so funny?? Great jokes and timing. |
| School Rumble Sangakki (OAV) | Not really good | There is too much skipped between 2nd season and this one so it feels weak, incomplete. Also that ErixHarima no longer looks probably makes me sad. Unresolved ending, boo |
| School Rumble: 2nd Semester (TV) | Very good | Not as good as the first season. Don't like the side stories much, the basketball stuff or Ichijou. The episodes that focus on Harima's triangles are still the best. |
| School Rumble: Extra Class (OAV) | Good | Like regular TV episodes. Set before-during-after Season1. |
| Scrapped Princess (TV) | Masterpiece | An exciting 1-quest series that feels non-stop. |
| Shamanic Princess (OAV) | Decent | Pretty characters, nice fight scenes, the rest is mediocre. |
| She and Her Cat (OAV) | Good | Thought it's very much like Voices of a Distant Star... no wonder, it's by the same people. ^_^ |
| SHINOBI (live-action movie) | Good | Different storyline but still somewhat just as good as the anime. |
| Slam Dunk movie 1 | Decent | It's nice to cover one complete match within 30 mins instead of doing 2 mins of game time using 20 mins of animation. |
| Slam Dunk movie 2 | Decent | A nice emotional game. |
| Slam Dunk movie 3 | So-so | Lighter than movie 2. |
| Slayers (TV) | Very good | Fun slapstick comedic fantasy series with a touch of drama and action. Makes me want to play more RPG. What I love most about it is how the good guys battled the boss in the last episode, how it's a well planned attack involving everyone. Not some stupid 1 on 1 arena fighting. Supposively, Lina's voice is closest to Hayashibara's normal speech. |
| Slayers - The Motion Picture | Good | Probably the better Slayers movie in that large list of movies. Gives some history on Gourry's sword. |
| Slayers Next (TV) | Excellent | The best of the Slayers series, dramtic climax, Lina's choice in the last episode makes it even better. |
| Slayers Return (movie) | Decent | Funny stand alone movie |
| Slayers Revolution (TV) | So-so | Nice to see more Slayers, but just a so-so story with an annoying mascot type character. |
| Slayers Try (TV) | Decent | Rather a let-down after the superb Slayers Next season. The story is dragged out longer and not as interesting. The ending sucks. |
| Speed Grapher (TV) | Decent | The first half is good. Then it went into monster-of-the-week mode and things seems slower and boringer. I used VLC's "faster" playback option a lot then. |
| Spice and Wolf (TV) | Decent | Nothing spectacular about this. But it makes me want to play more Settlers of Catan. |
| Spirited Away (movie) | Very good | Not the best Miyazaki movie IMO. The animation is excellent, the movie is funny, story is good, but the sudden love stuff seems unnecessary. |
| Submarine 707R (OAV) | Decent | Not bad naval battles. 707's captain's wife is a hottie. His daugther depicted as one also but that's just wrong. :p |
| Tenchi in Tokyo (TV) | Not really good | A boring, monster-of-the-week style storylines. |
| Tenchi Muyo Movie 1: Tenchi in Love | Good | Nice flashy movie. But the plot is weak. |
| Tenchi Muyo Movie 2: Daughter of Darkness | Good | The only Tenchi movie I like, really. |
| Tenchi Muyo Movie 3: Tenchi Forever | So-so | Slower and more melodramatic than the other 2 movies. |
| Tenchi Muyo! GXP (TV) | Bad | I got sick of it pretty quickly, but decided to finish watching it anyways. |
| Tenchi Muyo! Ryo-Ohki (OAV) | Good | The first. Good plot and character developement. |
| Tenchi Muyo! Ryo-Ohki OAV 2 | Good | Continues the OAV and keeps it good. That techno BGM in the scene when Zero-Ryoko is suspended in the night sky in front of the moon... I really want it but never been able to find out what it's called. |
| Tenchi Muyo! The Night Before The Carnival (OAV) | Good | funny episode |
| Tenchi Universe (TV) | Decent | Re-tells OAV1 in a streched out 26-ep series. So lots of fillers, some good, some bad. |
| Tenjho Tenge (TV) | Decent | The first fights were cool. Especially the bathroom fight. The flashback stuff is rather boring. |
| Tenjho Tenge: Ultimate Fight (OAV) | Decent | The Aya-Maya fight is rather disappointing. Was hoping they start tearing each other's clothes off but the scene ended early and didn't show the rest. |
| Those Who Hunt Elves (TV) | So-so | Slapstick comedy that's mediocre. |
| Tokyo Godfathers (movie) | Very good | Pretty funny. |
| Trigun (TV) | Excellent | Vash is a space cowboy Kenshin. |
| Tsukihime, Lunar Legend (TV) | Weak | Despite Ciel having a cool trident and tatoos, this series is boring. |
| (The) Twelve Kingdoms (TV) | Very good | The story is good, the first half moves quickly. Good characters, lots of characters. It spends a lot of time to setup the background of some later characters and that was kinda boring until the characters got to Kei. |
| Vandread (TV) | Decent | Harem in space with your typical girls and a main character who's not interested in girls... Hibiki is so annoying. Catchy ending song. |
| Vandread: The Second Stage (TV) | Decent | Pretty much the same as first season. Not much character development, just storyline progression that ends with peace. |
| Video Girl Ai (OAV) | Good | Good love-triangle but it gets too weird in the end. Another great work for Hayashibara. |
| (The) Vision of Escaflowne (TV) | Decent | Has good potential... like a very ghetto FMP that's missing the comedy. |
| Voices of a Distant Star (OAV) | Very good | Very touching, very pretty animation. It's also cool to see for once it's the guy instead of the girl that has to wait at home this time. Though it looks like he's entering the fleet to chase her, at the end. Too bad just 1 episode. |
| Wagaya no Oinarisama. (TV) | Good | Entertaining series with plenty of fanservice. Episodic, no real villain. |
| Whisper of the Heart (movie) | Excellent | "Country Roads" in Japanese *thumbs up* |
| (The) Wings of Honneamise (movie) | Good | Realistic characters and good storytelling. |
| Witch Hunter Robin (TV) | So-so | The first half is cool... afterwards it just isn't cool anymore. |
| XXXHOLiC (TV) | Good | Good episodic anime. The comedy between Watanuki and Doumeki is what makes this anime. The Zashiki-warashi's crush on Watanuki is cute too. |
| Yakitate!! Japan (TV) | Excellent | Every episode is outrageously funny. |
| Yokohama Kaidashi Kikou (OAV) | Weak | I guess anime in which nothing happens isn't for me. |
| Yokohama Kaidashi Kikou ~Quiet Country Cafe~ (OAV) | Weak | I guess anime in which nothing happens isn't for me. |
| You're Under Arrest (OAV) | Decent | Intro to the TV series, light comedy, episodic. |
| You're Under Arrest Second Season (TV) | Good | More of the same of Season1, nothing really developes in terms of the relationship between the characters until the last episodes. Still enjoyable. |
| You're Under Arrest: No Mercy! (OAV) | Good | The pair work for the LAPD with similar characters. But this time with real firepower. |
| You're Under Arrest: The Drama (live-action TV) | Very good | Less comedy, more drama. 9 episodes only so never feels slow. |
| You're Under Arrest: The Movie | So-so | Serious tone, very different from the series. Not funny :( |
| Yugo the Negotiator (TV) | Decent | A lot of talking and luck involve. Or maybe he's just that confident. |
| Zero no Tsukaima: Futatsuki no Kishi (TV 2) | Good | Continuing on with the same wining formula as the first season with good development in Saito and Louise's relationship. The ending is a cop-out though, wtf, couldn't come up with a better explanation than a fairy? |
| Zero no Tsukaima: Princess no Rondo (TV 3) | Decent | More of the same from the previous seasons but wtf, some people can't stay dead |
| Zipang (TV) | Good | The only anime that I know of that deals with the military side of WW2. Too bad it's a "to be continue" type of ending. |
| Zoku Natsume Yūjin-Chō (TV) | Decent | Very much like the first season. New girl character doesn't develop into romantic interest unfortunately. |
